Reviews
"great location for walks short drive into llangollen and right next door to the pub with good meals and ales.nice little dog friendly cottage.we were a party of six family and friends. great for long weekend stay. would return."
"Booked through Sykes holiday cottages which was easy. Key in keysafe on arrival Clean and tidy with all that you'd need including dishwasher etc and pub (a nice one with good food and friendly staff) next door! Brilliant location for the Aquaduct and walks nearby. A few issues however. Soft furnishings/decor inside a little dated/tired. Only one bathroon/toilet so we formed a queue every morning (there were 5 of us) Plenty of scope to bang your heads in the upstairs bedrooms where access was small 'ish. Third bedroom had to be accessed through second bedroom so not ideal if it wasn't a family group (could be a privacy issue?). No recycling facilities at the property (VERY disappointing) Not a great deal of outside space. We do appreciate the cottage is limited by planning issues (It's listed we believe?) Car safe and secure in pub car park. Local shop 5 mins walk. Easy access to Llangollen via a 10 minute drive where you can find the steam train/horse drawn barge trips etc All in all would I recommend it YES but you need to be aware of the minor issues as mentioned An information book in the property would be a nice touch"
"We have been to the cottage many times and have always found the cottage to be extremely clean and lovely, you could not wish for nicer owners who could not be more helpful and always goes the extra mile to make sure everything is okay for your stay but are not intrusive. We have stayed in many cottage/houses over the years but we just love this wonderful cottage, it is in an ideal location and hopefully we will enjoy MANY MORE visits to our favorite place."
"The cottage is very old with a quirky layout. It is in a fabulous location right on the tow path of the canal, just a few minutes walk from the famous aquaduct. I wouldn't say it is the height of luxury but it was clean, comfortable and had everything we needed. The beds were also very comfortable and has a good TV and wifi. The kitchen was well equipped and has a freezer and dishwasher. The pub is just a few steps away so that was well utilised by us and the dog. We will definitely stay here again as it was great to watch the boats. My only criticism was that there was no visitors handbook so we didn't know what to do with rubbish etc. Highly recommended."
"The owners were very patient as we got seriously lost and mobile batteries on low. And very late as the Pub had shut. We were made very welcome by the owner and we had a very warm time in November. We hope to go there again very soon. Nothing to do with the Telford Inn literally next door where the Hosts were very friendly. Very relaxing place. And everything you need. The only traffic is the barges. Don't go sleepwalking as the canal is a few yards away from the front door."
"Lovely location and you can take dogs, Owners lovely and just next door to lovely pub, been a couple of times and would love to go back soon."
"The cottage, location and everything was just amazing, loved everything about it, the Telford Inn next door was so nice and the people could not have been more helpful, Food also fabulous. Quiet at nights and the Owners made the collection of keys so easy and was on hand if needed and so helpful."
"perfect weekend break with friends, ideal location and base, great little cottage, cannot fault it.added bonus, the owners left us a bottle of wine to start the wind down------ very nice"
"This is one of the best cottages we have stayed in the location is great the owners of pub next door made you feel really welcome and our dog"
"Phoned to arrange collection of keys and was told we could get in early and pick up the keys in the pub next door so we were able to drop off the luggage and get a nice cold cider to sit in the sun with as soon as we arrived. The owners popped in later with a bottle of wine which was a nice touch and checked that everything was ok. The cottage itself was lovely and cool even though the weather was the hottest few days of the year so made a nice place to retreat to when sitting watching the canal boats and walkers in this beautiful setting. The rooms in the cottage are all well equipped and comfortable, the shower is excellent with loads of power and kitchen contains everything you could imagine should you want to get cooking (but if you try the steak pie in the pub next door you wont want to bother cooking again). There are plenty of places to walk around the area direct from the front door although if you don't like heights the walk in the Chirk direction will get an extra mile or so added as you avoid the aqueduct which is the main feature of the area although its well worth walking over it for the view alone. Although the cottage is next to a pub (well its virtually in the beer garden) there is no noise at all that can be heard inside the cottage which makes the pub a bonus as you can have food or drink whenever you want to relax, and if the beer gardens full its quite nice to step into your own garden and sit at your own table and chairs as the world passes by. Would I go back here.......I'm thinking of booking it next year as well."
"lovely cottage, well equipped and well situated, excellent service from owners, very interesting area, weather was cold but pleasantly sunny, a highly recommended accommodation, would stay again."
"A hop step and a jump onto the canal path which ever way we went we had good flat walking ,not many people just the birds and the wild fowl.the cottage was warm and well equipped, beds comfy ---peaceful yet with a pub next door excellent!!"
"Loved every thing about it the cottage the location and the pub every 1 was friendly the cottage was clean and nicely decorate and the keys were easy to pick up."
"The pub in question is almost attached to the cottage, so not far to walk for excellent pub food and welcoming staff. On the other side is the canal, a busy stretch with lots going on including boat hire if you are so inclined. Not for the faint hearted if you steer towards the aquaduct mind, you need a head for heights. (An unfenced sheer drop to the river over a hundred feet below). With all of these hazards this isn't the place for young children, but couldn't be better for adults - walks along 2 branches of the canal from the door, as well as that pub.. The house itself is very well presented with everything you could possibly need. Snug and comfortable. There are steps/stairs and funny little low doorways on the upper floor but our 6'4" family member didn't have any problems even though his bed was under the beams!"
"Fantastic cottage, with absolutely everything you could possibly need. The cottage was spotless and perfectly placed for the wonderful aquaduct, and pub next door."
"Outstanding position with all amentities to hand; superb local butcher only 5mins drive away. Property wonderful and quiet although next to pub. Owners very prompt in delivering key on arrival and helpful if needed. We will definitely visit again."
