Belford is an ancient village, having been in existence since before medieval times. The centre of the village is the market square with its cross dating back around 300 years. Today it is a quiet village which gives visitors easy access to the Northumberland Coast, the Cheviot Hills and the Scottish Borders. Belford itself has a variety of smaller interesting shops as well as the usual shops and facilities available in a large village. During the month of August, a continental market takes place in the centre of the village and gives it a real carnival atmosphere. Overlooked by the magnificent 18th century Belford Hall and only a few minutes walk from the centre of the village is Belford Golf Club, a 9-hole golf course which features a driving range, motorised cart hire and excellent bar facilities.

The Lake Cottage

"Stayed here in October, in a group of 4 adults and 2 children. The cottage was stylishly furnished, well equipped, and very warm and comfortable. The combination of underfloor heating and a log burning stove was simply wonderful. The grounds of Middleton Hall were beautiful, and even had a kingfisher flying round the lake! We had a sneak peep at the other properties in the grounds, and they looked equally stylish, especially the boathouse The owners provided fresh home made scones, an almond cake and even a bottle of bubbly for us. Would highly recommend it."

"This cottage was beautiful! The furnishings and decor were lovely and well thought out. Upon arrival we found homemade scones and cava, my husband loved the scones! The situation of the cottage is perfect, it's a quiet location yet close to all the local attractions. We would certainly come here again, it was faultless."
