Reviews
"Taking in the stunning view as I write. This place is a real find. Einion, the owner, couldn't be more accommodating. Took children (& adults!) on tour of farm. 3 generations stayed very comfortably. Beautiful secluded bay short walk away. Enclosed garden excellent for little ones. Family left today. On our own for 2 days now - blissful! Highly recommended. "
"It is what it says it is & it didn't fail to live up to our expectations. It's a working farm rearing heiffers, so theres going to be a little bit of noise from the tractor, a few aroma's & a little bit of of moo'ing at feeding time. If you're looking at the photo of the view from the conservatory then it is much better in real life. The owner (Einnon) is a lovely chap, often around but never overly stepping into your holiday, full of local advice & supplier of probably the nicest free range eggs you'll ever eat. We enjoyed it, thank you, & I cannot think of anything that would have made our stay better."
"A welcoming home from home, equipped with everything you could need. Beautiful views and a fab outdoor space for the kids to play. Brilliant hosts with lots of recommendations for things to do and the boys loved the tour of the farm. Would love to go back."
"Visited Ty Top for a week in June, my friend and our three dogs. This is one of the best cottages we have stayed in, it was so well equipped, the furniture was big and comfy, plenty of room to spread out, all done to a high spec. There was a lovely welcome of wine, bread, Welsh cakes and Welsh bread waiting for us in the kitchen. The weather was pretty poor for our week but the light and airy feel of our cottage made all the difference, the large conservatory even made it pleasant to sit and read whilst it was blowing a gale and raining hard outside. The view across to Holyhead is fab. The owner, Einion was incredibly helpful and friendly we had a very informative insight into the work he does on the farm, thank you Einion. I don't know if I misread a previous review but I thought you could walk to the nearby beach in about 20 minutes, you can't it's a drive away. But plenty of lovely little coves to visit, lots of coastal walks as well as some short walks around the farm. Would highly recommend this cottage it is worth every penny, the only thing I would say is you definitely need a car but things aren't too far away. "
"Spent a lovely weekend with kids, dog and adults exploring the rock pools and local pubs! A really dog friendly cottage with lots of space to spread out and let the kids and adults have their fun. Plenty of parking and outside space, well equipped kitchen and an amazing view out to the sea."
"We enjoyed a great week in this lovely property which is equipped with everything we needed during our stay. The owner, Einion, gave us a very warm welcome on arrival and couldn't do enough to ensure we were happy and had everything we needed. Einion also gave us a tour of the farm during our stay which all the family enjoyed and found very interesting. We visited various places on Anglesey and enjoyed a number of the beaches close by with our children and dogs, the closest beach is just a 1.5 mile walk/drive, the location makes for a great base from which to explore. We also spent plenty of time relaxing at the cottage and enjoying the tranquility of the surroundings. We would not hesitate to return for another holiday at Ty Top."
"Located on Plas Uchaf a family run dairy farm. This is a spacious 4 bedroom 3 bath/shower room cottage. Having a boot room entrance was really useful for our dog and to decamp the coats and boots etc. Toasty and warm throughout the house thanks to very efficient underfloor heating downstairs including the conservatory. Log burner in the lounge provided lovely cosy fires when we turned the heating down!Upstairs heated by radiators. Useful to know that towels & bedding are provided. There is a hairdryer in bedroom drawers. Small amount of tea, coffee, sugar and a pint of milk etc. available so you can make a cuppa before you unpack. Washing up liquid and dish wash tablets dishcloths, tea towels, cling film and tinfoil, salt and pepper provided. A bottle of wine was also left for us which was a lovely gesture. Einion was very friendly and welcomed us and gave us info about where to find things in the cottage. We bought some farm fresh free range eggs from him which were huge and very tasty. The bedrooms were comfortable. Post storm Doris, it was still very windy and there was some lifting of the metal roof in farm buildings behind the cottage on the first night of our stay which disturbed our sleep, but no one can predict wild weather in February! Lovely touches like lanterns and candles added real atmosphere to this beautiful cottage. Don't forget to take matches. Having ample parking space and an enclosed garden was really useful. We would like to return in Spring/ Summer to use the outside patio space which has lovely views across the fields. The conservatory was lovely and comfortable. the seating was better for our backs than the large sofas in the living room. Even in a howling gale there were no drafts and we were snug and comfortable throughout. The only suggestion we would make to enhance our stay would be t a mirror in each of the bedrooms for convenience when doing hair/ make up etc. The coast is a short drive or a longer walk away and this side of the island is very quiet. The long weekend was peaceful and quiet and we had a real taste of Anglesey and will definitely return when the weather gets better. We highly recommend Ty Top. Thank you to the Owen family for making our stay so pleasant"
"Five of us stayed for one week, all very happy with our rooms and bathroom facilities. Everything there you need and very accommodating host should you need anything else. Didn't take long to get off Anglesey to visit NT sites and Snowdonia and we had a number of good days out. Other reviewers talked up the Black Lion so we used it twice. Lovely pint and food also good but tried to book on Thursday at around 8:00pm to be told we were too late! Very good site and to be recommended without hesitation."
"We had a most relaxing holiday at this beautiful spacious cottage. There are several good dog walks of between 3-7 mile from the door step and then of course on return there's the Jacuzzi bath and a south facing conservatory to relax with a glass of wine or two! Everything has been thought of in this luxury holiday home, including a hose to wash the dogs with and an enclosed garden, a lovely soft bed with views across to Holyhead."
"We needed a house for 5 adults, one child and a little dog. This house was absolutely perfect for us. it is very spacious especially as you have a conservatory and a sitting room. The kitchen/dining area is a lovely family dining space and through doors to the outside. As the weather was kind to us we had breakfast every morning with a great view of the countryside and the sea. The house has absolutely everything that you could possibly need and more. Everything is of a high standard. Very useful downstairs walk in shower after a day on the beach. Lovely bath upstairs and an en-suite king size room so there's no queuing for a bathroom. The location is excellent for all the nearby lovely beaches. Not too far to travel anywhere in Anglesey. We thought the welsh cakes and the marmalade where a lovely touch and we thoroughly enjoyed them. Many thanks to all of the Owen family for making us so welcome in your lovely house. I would highly recommend this wonderful property and look forward to returning for another holiday."
"This property was first class in every respect. The standard of finishes, equipment, furnishings and general attention to detail was excellent. Set next to a dairy farm, it has stunning views over towards Holyhead. There are a number of superb beaches, the nearest being only 1.5 miles away. Our grandchildren loved the farm, and we had a guided tour one morning to see the cows, and also a look at how they cut grass to make silage. Fascinating! We had the warmest of welcomes from the farmer, Einion, who stopped by almost every day to make sure everything was OK. He even tipped us off to go to Rhosneigr beach one day as the Red Arrows were putting on a full display the RAF Valley Family Day. Brilliant! (It also helped that we had 7 days of beautiful weather!) We intend to return!!"
"Really warm welcome, our host was excellent friendly and helpful through our stay. Magnificent views, great insulation from the wind when it got blustery..underfloor heating is fabulous. Lots of space for 8 people, great kitchen, lovely real fire and facilities, great local walks and brilliant situation to discover parts of Anglesey we hadn't been to before...would definitely book again"
"Fantastic cottage finished to a very high standard with the added bonus of underfloor heating which we missed when we arrived home. The Owen family were friendly and accommodating and gave us a tour of the farm which was interesting and informative. We will definitely be returning "
"This was the first time me and my friends had rented out a cottage for the weekend and to our surprise it was perfect. We had travelled 3 hours and upon entering we felt the warmth and cosiness straight away and felt right at home. The cottage had everything you could think in regards to amenities and was very clean. The owner introduced himself the next morning and was really helpful in informing us re the area and helping us out with the fire. Can't wait to return, thank you so much. Ps. we literally stayed in the cottage the whole time!!!!!"
"Stayed at this cottage for a week in October. The party consisted of four adults (two couples), two infants and a lively border collie. Let me cut right to that chase, we cannot recommend this cottage, location or its owners highly enough. If you're looking at self catering property in Angelsey and your party numbers eight or less look no further! You will find no better, and for a lot more money I suspect you would often get a lot less! The location is on a working cattle farm. But besides the odd "mooo" and occasional passing tractor you feel like you are miles from anywhere. The views over the bay and Holyhead are outstanding and are frankly a major selling point by themself. A lovely patio and equally lovely conservatory overlook the sea and are wonderful spots to relax in the day and amazing star gazing locations at night. The beach is nearbye (10-15 mins walk), a shop is in the village down the road and larger shops are a short drive away. Equally there are numerous pubs within short drives of the cottage. If you want a relaxing spot, this ticks all the boxes. The house is lovely. Spacious but cosy and extremely well furnished. Two people could stay here and feel cosy, but the sleeping arrangements and kitchen would easily accommodate 6-8 people. Throw in the conservatory and patio and you're flushed with space. The bathroom has a jacuzzi bath (recommended!) and the master bedroom an en suite with plenty of room for a cot or such like. The lounge is lovely with a fireplace, large TV and sofas designed to fall asleep on! The kitchen is very well equipped and a pleasure to both use and hang out in. A large downstairs shower (three bathrooms in total) and utility room with washing machine are very handy. A fully enclosed front garden was brilliant for our dog meaning he could roam free but not run off. It would be excellent for young children also. The owners were a delight! Welcoming from the start and always on hand if needed but never intruding on our privacy. Kind offers to tour the farm (recommended for younger visitors!) and explore their land (which surrounds the cottage) made us feel very comfortable and removed any awkwardness about where we could and could not roam (everywhere!). As dog owners this was lovely as it was nice to know we could walk him right on our doorstep. On departure the owner asked could they improve the cottage (a nice gesture) and with 100% sincerity We could not think of a thing! We have stayed at a number of holiday cottages and would without doubt rank this right towards the top in every department. We will return and would heartily recommend it to anyone. Tips: Dinner at The White Eagle pub a few miles away was excellent. 'Sandy Beach' is a short drive away but an excellent dog walking beach. As the owners will tell you, dare to explore the local area! Numerous local lanes and paths may seem insignificant but often lead to amazing beaches or interesting walks. Please note our photos were taken on departure. The house was spotless on arrival."
"Had a wonderful time at Ty Top a stunning cottage with breathtaking views, very family friendly. will definitely book again and recommend to friends and family. Very friendly hosts nothing was to much trouble Many Thanks from Warrington and Perth Western Australia x"
"What a wonderful holiday ! The accommodation was faultless beautiful views, spacious and very clean. Perfect for a family with little ones, my Granddaughters loved it and were allowed the freedom to play endlessly around the rooms and in the safe enclosed garden. Allowing the adults the chill time, we were hoping for. We ventured out little, only one meal out at the Valley Inn and the two near by beaches. We ordered from home our Tesco Shopping and it was delivered 2 hours after we arrived. My Son-in-laws were happy enough in the evenings, escaping to the 'Pool Den' a rustic shack even though a little dirty had a charm all of It's own. The highlight for all of us was the tour of the farm, the little ones fed the Cow, she had been kept in because of sunburn ! Richard explained in layman's terms the routine of a working farm with almost 300 heifers. It finished off with Richard taking the little ones to Hen house. thrill to chose your own egg !!! Needless to say it was cooked and plate licked as soon as we got bk to Farm House. Great time !!! For all, as l said NOT ONE TO BE MISSED !!"
"Such a lovely house to stay in on beautiful surroundings. Richard was a very interesting farmer who told us lots of nice stories about the place and even had a farm tour for our little girls! Would definitely stay again,"
