Reviews
"This is a very deceptive and characterful cottage. It has loads of space but is very cosy and very clean and nicely decorated. There is everything in the cottage that you need including a games room and area for your dirty boots and outside coats etc without encroaching on your living space. All your needs have been catered for and the views are spectacular. Sedbergh is a lovely location with all the amenities you need, surrounded by beautiful landscape. I cannot wait to go and stay again and would recommend the cottage to everyone - it has the wow factor."
"As a family of four (including young adult children) our stay after Easter had mixed weather but plenty of things to do in the village and access to stunning scenery within a few minutes walk or drive. Kendal is 30 minutes away and the drive to and from was gorgeous with snow-capped peaks in the lakes and the view of the high dales. The walk to Winder was good with lots of wildlife, small streams and views in every direction to keep your motivation going to get to the top. Easier coming back down and refreshments in every direction with all the cafes, coffee shops. On the Roll is well worth a visit with salads, sandwiches and hot baguettes. Great way to refuel yourself before heading back out again. Plenty of spaces to take breaks too with the antique shop, the book shops and Information centre. The wood burner was needed once or twice for those cold evenings and much preferable to central heating (although that was available). We'd stay again and hope to soon."
"Stayed in cottage with family for one week. The cottage has everything you would need and only 5 miles from the motorway. The cottage is old and full of character and I would recommend it for a stay. The only bad point of the cottage was the stained and ripped bed sheet in the attic bedroom which I would not have slept on but did find another one in the cupboard but really should be replaced. The cottage is also close to all the attractions in the lake district and the dales. There is a supermarket and little shops nearby and was very quite. We tried the indian takeaway nearby which was good and the chinese takeaway which was pretty bad but maybe it was an off night,"
"We had a fantastic bank holiday break here. The cottage is very clean and spacious and located in the centre of the village, as well as with in easy reach of some brilliant walks. Everyone we met was very friendly and helpful. Local food outlets were great and I had the best Sunday lunch I've had in a long time. I am looking forward to a return visit!!!"
"The cottage is on 3 levels, you have a games room and boot room on the ground floor with table top table tennis, board games, jigsaws and a wii with games. The boot room has the washing machine which worked fine. The first floor has the kitchen, bathroom, one bedroom that can be a twin for kids or put together to be a king size. There is a little dining area that you can use for working at a table if needed. There are maps and guides to local attractions in that area. The kitchen has a dishwasher that is very handy and you get some welcome nibbles and wine which was a nice touch. The kitchen is very well equipped with utensils, oven, hob and microwave and plenty of glasses, cups, mugs, plates etc so no need to bring your own. The master bedroom on the second floor is en-suite and very spacious. with plenty of storage space. The only niggles were a noisy saniflow toilet and a skylight with no curtain or blind which may not suit late risers! The wifi internet access is good with up to 16Mb speeds. The area is great for walkers. There is a nice chippy a few yards away, a chinese takeaway (had better) and an Indian restaurant and takeaway that we did not try. There is a spar a few minutes walk from the cottage."
