Ploughgate is a ground floor barn conversion, one of three situated on a working dairy farm, near the village of Forton. The cottage sleeps two people in one king-size bed in an open plan studio. Within this space there is also a kitchen, a dining area and a sitting area with an electric fire. Completing the accommodation is a shower room with a walk-in shower. Outside is off road parking for one car and a front enclosed patio with furniture. Ploughgate provides an ideal romantic retreat for a couple looking to explore this area. Impressive mountains, open fells and clear-water lakes, the Lake District has it all. From walking in the mountains to exhilarating watersports or just a gentle cruise on a steam-powered yacht, Cumbria is the perfect holiday destination.

"Lovely cosy retreat perfect for a short break. Owners very friendly and helpful as was their son who they sent round after work to help us get connected to WiFi. Clean and bright in spite of only having skylights. Very warm especially underfloor heating in bathroom and we loved the shower. Went for walks along the canal and visited Garstang, Scorton on and Lancaster. Managed to briefly sit out in private courtyard with table chairs and garden umbrella when weather permitted. As its a dairy farm you do get the sound and smells of cows. But that didn't bother us. Only criticism is the lack of storage for clothes and toiletries. But it wouldn't put us off going again."
"We stayed in Ploughgate over the long Easter weekend in 2017. It is a lovely little property, very tastefully decorated and well maintained in a quiet area (on a dairy farm). It was bijoux but more than adequate for our needs. The bed was very comfy and the shower was great (good water pressure, lots of hot water). The only negatives were lack of windows (although it didn't feel claustrophobic and the owners have tried to find inventive solutions to provide extra light inside) and very little storage space - it would have benefitted from a chest of drawers (or similar) in the main living area and a unit in the bathroom."
