"We enjoyed our stay. The property on the edge of Knock is well positioned for local amenities, local shop, supermarket, pub, local fishing lake and the Basilica Museum and Park at Knock shrine. There is plenty of car parking available at the front of the property, and a grassed area at the rear of the property has a picnic table and plenty of room to dry clothes on a line. (Good nwe washing machine) Knock is well connected with a great road net work. Our daughter visited from the UK and was easy to meet at the Ireland West Knock Airport twenty minutes away by road. The location enabled us to visit Westport (Greenway Cycle route), Achill Island, Cong, Lough Corrib, Conemarra National Park, Kylemore Abbey, Galway, National Museum of Ireland Country Life. We particularly enjoyed visiting the Island of Inishmore (Aran Islands) We visited our friends who reside in Belmullet, West Ireland and they made a return visit to Knock. They enjoyed their time with us and liked the traditional cottage environment and they too found the accommodation spacious, clean, with very comfortable bedrooms. The kitchen dining room was good for entertaining our guests and the spacious turf fired lounge made for a sociable evening. Our respective dogs could easily be accommodated exercised in the Knock shrine park (accessed opposite the Robins Nest via the convent side road). Good comfortable Irish cottage accommodation We would stay again David Mary and Katie Bland"

"The best location in Knock - near the only two pubs (one of which is a shop and pub and very friendly) which were open in Knock, and a short walk to Knock Shrine. A great basis for touring Co Mayo. The landlady was very accommodating and helpful to our request for an early check-in, since we had arrived on a very early flight, and had left tea, coffee milk, biscuits and lots of cleaning and washing materials which is not at all usual in rented properties. Great new washing machine and ample crockery/pans etc. Also a starter supply of turf and wood for the fire. Yes the decor is a little dated, but charming in its own way and so reminiscent of our parents'/uncles etc properties built around the 60s/70s, but clearly updated and refreshed without trying to win a design prize. Hopefully we will be back, and not leave it too long."

"The house was filthy; with an infestation of flies, spiders and cobwebs all over the house. We got rid of the flies by using lots of fly killer spray. Uncovered pipes and windows displayed lots of mould. Dust, dirt and dead insects on doors and floors. Very old-fashioned decor throughout the house. Paint flaking on windows and skirting, rusty radiators and a hole in hall ceiling. Bedrooms and main bathroom had hammered glass in doors, allowing very limited privacy. No waste paper bins in bathrooms or bedroom. Toilets were filthy on our arrival. Washing machine ruined clothes (however, owner did send a new replacement). Washing machine flooded kitchen because outside drain had no grid and became blocked. This is the first house we rented in the past 15 years that had no dishwasher. We had to use a fruit bowl to wash dishes as there was neither a plastic basin or a plug for the sink. Cooker hob had one knob broken. We bought ice cream the first day, only to discover there was no ice box in the fridge. Ironically; the thermostat on the fridge didn't work and everything we put into it froze. This resulted in us dumping coleslaw, potato salad, and sliced meats on a daily basic. We left dishes and glasses on the worktops as they acquired a bad smell on being left in the cupboards. The so-called wi-fi was an O2 mobile dongle, which had no reception. The only internet we had was from our own mobile phones. The outside of the house displays lots of dirt, with mould on window sills, walls, and soffits. Garden overgrown with lots of weeds, Drive had lots of moss and well-established weeds. To conclude: the house is unfit for human habitation."
