"We stayed in number 4. The house was lovely. TJ, Margaret and Barbara (i think that was her name) were really nice and helpful. The bedrooms were really warm and cosy. We lit the fire both nights which made the frontroom area warm too. There was two pubs in the village. These were both nice. The local shop also had loads - fuel for the fire, necessities and plenty of alcoholic beverages. The lake is a short drive away too! The electricity for the two days was very good too. Overall it was a steal!"

"We booked out all of the Lough Derg cottages to host our pre wedding get together. Jeff & TJ were really helpful and accommodating. During our stay the staff could not do enough for us. Some of the cottages have been renovated but still retain their old world charm. The location is perfect as its right beside a shop and pub so had all that our guests required for the occasion. The green space is perfect especially for children and also the BBQ space is well done."

"We had a great time staying for 3 nights at these cottages with our 2 grandchildren. The accommodation was great and Margaret made us feel very welcome she suggested a couple of places to visit like Dromineer and Killaloe which were great with lots to do. The only downside was the Wi-Fi signal in number 9 was very poor. "

"We booked a thatched cottage through Groupon (for 3 nights) and were allocated cottage 2. On reading other reviews I have a feeling that we got the one cottage that wasn't renovated and isn't in good nick. We have stayed in lots of self catering houses and apartments over the years but this was definitely the poorest accommodation we ever had. The kitchen was the worst - the fridge did not have a door for the freezer compartment so everything was semi frozen. We were told upon pointing this out that this would not affect our electricity charge but we ended up paying 12 Euro for 3 days anyway and also had to throw away vegetables that were unusable due to the freezer compartment issue. Lots of the doors of the kitchen cabinets had no knobs. The pots were dirty and extremely old - the coating of the pan and one pot was in tatters. There was one single lid - the plastic on it had melted and it was in no condition to be used. There was no fan extractor. In one of the cupboards was a mouldy loaf of sliced pan that someone must have left behind. The washing machine was ancient and the on switch was stuck in position. The bathroom was fine. We had to bring our own towels though, unusual for a self catering cottage. The tap in the toilet was dripping. The living room was very small, we could never have had a meal at the dining room table (there was 5 of us), it was pushed against the wall but even so it was impossible to pass behind it as the sofa was right in front of it. We were lucky that the weather was so good, this allowed us to have our meals outside on the (very crooked) picnic table which we had to clean of birds' droppings before using it. A light bulb up on the landing was not working, this was remedied when pointed out. The beds were all really dated (the bed linen was fine, though) as were all the curtains and the sofa and rocking chairs. There was a permanent smell of smoke in the house (from the fire place) which hit you as soon as you opened the door. Lots of dogs around on our side of the cottages (there are two parts on both sides of the road) - didn't bother us but might bother people that are afraid of dogs. Positives: * Barbara was very friendly and helpful. * The house is equipped with an ironing board and iron and a clothes horse - handy for drying towels after swimming. * Lough Derg is close by with a swimming area in Dromineer (there is also a water park and paddle boats etc) * The local shop around the corner is very handy."

"From the moment of booking, I found the team who run the cottages to be very helpful. Puckane village is an ideal base to explore Lough Derg. The cottage we stayed in (number 5) was lovely, and had a welcoming feel. The sitting room with its high ceiling was cozy and comfortable. The kitchen was equipt with EVERYTHING you could possibly need (even down to a flask for bringing hot water for picnics). The beds were comfy, with lovely soft pillows. The setting is in an idyllic little village, so sitting out on the bench outside in the mornings is a lovely way to start the day. We stayed for 3 nights, and on our last day Barbara told us not to rush to leave, so we had the comfort of using the house for a base for the full day. We will definitely be booking again. 3 days wasn't long enough "

"We recently rented 3 of the cottages for 18 family members and everyone had a great time. The owner TJ gave us a great welcome on arrival and Margaret was brilliant from start to finish. The tennis court nearby is in superb condition (small cost of 4 euros to use) and its easy to a have a football kick around on the green outside the cottages. The pub and general store across the road are so convenient to the cottages. Nenagh Golf course is nearby (about 10-15 minutes) and we had a game there with fabulous food after the game. The village of Puckane is quiet with really friendly locals and in a way, its like a step back in time staying in the cottages in such a lovely little country area. We travelled to Dromineer which has beautiful views and access to Lough Derg and we also had a meal in The Thatched Cottage Bar in Ballycommon which was top class."

"Absolutely stunning, beautiful thatched cottages nestled in the quaint village of Puckan. Margaret greeted and warmly welcomed us - she is an absolute gem - so warm and kind. The cottage itself far exceeded our expectations - it was spotless, roomy, comfortable and charming - with all mod cons (washing machine / dishwasher / shower / heating, etc.). Steve (maintenance man) swiftly and efficiently rectified a wee hic-cup, followed up by a phone call from Tim, a co- owner - who profusely apologised for any inconvenience (there was none). I simply cannot recommend these enchanting cottages enough. We will return - in the not too distant future. A pub is literally across the road, beside a convenience store. The cottages have a beautiful green where it is very safe for children to play, kick ball, etc. Our dog certainly enjoyed his stay too (your family pet is also very welcome here). A park and tennis courts are located alongside the cottages too. Drive the Lough Derg drive, take a boat trip from Dromineer to the monastic Holy Island... loads too see"

"This is an ideal cottage to stage at if you want a feeling of real old ireland . The people who owned it and run it were outstanding . They really couldn't do enough for us . We brought a wolfhound dog with us and it was no problem for them to accommodate him! The cottage itself would sleep 7 very comfortably and the fire and living was really authentic . We will most definitely be going back ! Highly recommended !!"

"I just got back from my first stay in these cottages and I can't recommend them highly enough. They are exactly what the mind conjures up for an Irish cottage, thatched roofs, pristine whitewashed walls and colourful half doors. Inside, the idyll continues. My cottage was sympathetically furnished and the accommodation was comfortable, clean and well-equipped. The staff were friendly and efficient, the locals were welcoming and the village is picturesque, with two excellent pubs and a well-stocked convenience store. The location makes a great central base to explore the whole of Ireland, and Lough Derg is just ten minutes away. Perfect! I'll be back!"

"We stayed in number 10 and had an absolutely wonderful taste of old Ireland. Very warm welcome from Margaret who did everything she could to make sure we had everything we needed and even lit us a fire in the huge open fireplace. Children had the enclosed garden to play in all day and the shop was only 2 minutes walk away and extremely reasonable priced. Location also so close to Nenagh for shopping and to Lough Derg. Highly recommend these cottages. I am really looking forward to our next trip."

"10 out of 10. The cottages are taste of old Ireland with a sprinkle of modernism. The staff are so friendly and helpful. We stayed an extra night because the kids just didn't want to go home. Neagh is just up the road and balina has a out door heated swimming pool. And don't forget the lough. There is a pub and a shop across the road. We will definitely be coming back."

"April 2017 Just back from these cottages and had a great experience. From the time we arrived we were made very welcome. Margaret had left a small turf fire waiting for us, and the heating in the house had already been on so it was toasty. I had read a lot of really good reviews of this place and had only found one bad one, and you will always get somebody with something to crib about. With all other reviewers and everybody else giving 5 stars and then a person gives one star, I decided I wanted to make up my own mind. Well it is the most idyllic place to go for a chill out break. These are authentic Irish Thatched Cottages, and are really like living in the past but with modern comforts and conveniences. The cottages are also an ideal base for touring that area of the country. We did Bunratty Castle - 40 mins drive away, and Kilaloe River Cruise 35 mins drive over two different days. The next time we are going to do the Cliffs of Moher which is only 1 hour away. Where they are situated is perfect. Just 10 mins from Nenagh so you are away from the hustle and bustle. Literally 30ft from the cottages is the pub and the shop. The pub is a traditional small pub and you get great chat and pointers from the locals. The shop is a mini supermarket and will make breakfast rolls, or picnic rolls for a day out. The cleanliness of the place was spot on, and Margaret had left her number in case we needed anything. She came on the last morning to see us off, which is a sign of great customer service. We will be definitely coming down here again. As a 3 Star Trip Advisor Reviewer I can recommend this place."

"With its charming village, pub, church and neighbors it is an ideal location to base your Ireland vacation from. We have stayed here 2x in the past year and are already planning to go back. If you are looking for a real Irish experience this is the place, from your own fireplace to sit by with a cup of tea at night, to the perfectly sized kitchen and bedrooms its relaxation at its best."

"The cottages lie in the heart of the village that's a stones throw away from the friendly local pub and shop. Once you've disconnected from life's daily dramas it's easy to blend into this happy & welcoming community. Inside the cottage I fell head over heals in love with the open fire, natural beams, stone floors and all the usual nooks and crannies one would expect from an authentic cottage. The cottage contained a fully equipped kitchen, small flat screen TV, bath/shower in a large spacious area. While there I enjoyed the beautiful hiking trails, collected some winter woolly bargains in the very fine John Hanly Wollen Mills, did some hiking around the Cliffs of Moher & visited the Rock of Cashel. I also spent some beautiful evenings watching the sun set on the mighty Lough Derg."

"On arrival found the cottage to be filthy with dirt and dust. No vacuum cleaner available. Fire grate not cleaned out. Fire grate broken.Smelly bedding. No bulb in stairs light. No shade in bedroom light. Lack of equipment - sleeps 6 but only 4 plates and 2 soup bowls. Not permissable to use decorative plates in cabinet. Unusable WHB in toilet due to leak. Toilet flush not working properly. Faulty tap in Bathroom WHB which meant it splashed water all over the floor when you use. No door on Freezer compartment in fridge. Not enough pots and pans. Bench outside is rotten and splintered and owner asked if we could do without it as new arrivals expected one but this cottage is the only one that has a bench. Owner oblivious to lack of basic items and lack of broadband. To get WiFi you have to stand outside near the owners cottage or occassionally hold cellphone to window. Cottage is very cold and blocks had to be bought and fire lit in June."
