The region boasts miles of unspoilt, golden-sanded beaches and stunning countryside. Situated within this county are two areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty and the rugged Northumberland Park. Northumberland also hosts the greatest number of castles than anywhere else in Britain and the Island of Lindisfarne is said to be the birthplace of British Christianity. Bamburgh is a charming village made up of stone houses and located close to the sea. It has its own castle which was completely restored in 1900, which houses collections of antique china, porcelain, furniture, paintings, weapons and armour and is open to the public. Many of the area's attractions are easily accessible from Bamburgh, such as the Farne Islands and Dunstanburgh Castle. Bamburgh is also served by a number of shops, in addition to some pubs and restaurants of high reputation.
Reviews
"My wife and I stayed here, with our little dog, for a short break on the beautiful Northumbrian coast in July 2019. The two-bedroom cottage is situated just behind the main street in Bamburgh and very convenient - perhaps a couple of hundred yards to the nearest pubs/restaurants - but is pleasantly quiet at night and through the day. The house is clean, comfortable and well-equipped. Fenced gardens to the front and rear - with a large lawn at the front - provided ample space for our dog. Parking is available on a quiet street just a few yards behind the house. We have no complaints at all and would happily stay here again."
"We have just returned from a weeks holiday in this cottage, everything was absolutely spot on, location, comfort, equipment, cleanliness. Bambrugh itself is just stunning, plus we had the most glorious weather."
"What a lovely cottage Right in the heart of bamburgh, on the coast. Plenty of walks and things to see in the area. Dog friendly in the cottage and in the village. Can particularly recommend the Victoria pub and the Lord Crewe. Both allow dogs in the bar area and both serve great food. This cottage is 5 minutes from the castle and 7 minutes from the sweeping Northumberland coast. Miles of dunes, sandy beaches and rocks to walk on and investigate for critters. A lovely place to stay Cottage spotless and well kitted out. 5stars all the way "
"Just returned from a weeks stay at this lovely Bamburgh cottage. Have to say this one of the best cottages for location amenities and price we have stayed in. The cottage is dog friendly with enclosed gardens to both the back and the front of the cottage. Kitchen, dining room and living room downstairs with a lovely bathroom and two large bedrooms. We had everything we needed and more, even had dog bowls, covers etc for the dog. The cottage is lovely and quiet with beds that are so comfy, had such a great sleep, and everything was spotless clean. It is situated right in the heart of Bamburgh and literally 5 minutes from the beach and castle. Such a great find and we will return and would recommend especially with a dog."
"Having not visited this area before we were a little unsure of what to expect; pleasantly surprised by the comforts offered by this delightful little cottage we were further delighted with all that Bamburgh and the surrounding area has to offer. There is nothing missing in this home, fabulously equipped kitchen, large fridge freezer, dishwasher, washing machine everything you need. Lovely Denby crockery and Wedgewood cutlery making this feel more like a well loved home than a holiday let. Lovely big comfy beds, soft towels, everything you could need. Our two dogs fitted in very quickly, both the front and back gardens being dog friendly, bowls etc supplied for them too! You really don't need to travel far with lovely local shops selling everything you might need. The lamb chops and Sirloin from Roberts the butchers being the best we've tasted in a long time, the veg from the corner stores being fresh and tasty. Lovely walks from the doorstep, Seahouses being only 3 miles along the beach and Budle Bay a fabulous walk in the other direction. Of course the castle is a must as is a trip to Holy Island, watch out for the tides, check before you go. Sunsets just amazing. Mobile signal and Wifi we're fine for us. All in all a little gem of a place, we will definitely be back. The weather was great too which of course, always help. The lady next door takes obvious great care of the property and is on hand if you need any guidance. A gardener keeps the gardens looking lovely."
"This cottage is a little gem, I stayed here with my wife and pet cocker spaniel for a mid week break. The cottage is slittle gempotlessly clean, 2 double bedrooms with excellent beds. The front and rear gardens are both enclosed so it's ideal for letting dogs loose, the mobile phone signal is not brilliant so the owners have kept the telephone connected and there is a honesty box to leave money if you make any calls, also there is a internet connection so ideal if you have a laptop or iPad. In the village ther are various tea rooms, butchers, small shops and a few pubs. The Victoria is 2 mins walk from cottage and is dog friendly, dogs welcomed in bar area.the beach is about 8 mins walk away which is a beautiful beach and ideal for walking the dog. This cottage is a ideal base as sea houses, holy island, Berwick and Alnwick are just a short drive awayl"
