Much of Upper Wharfedale is owned by the National Trust and is composed of dry-stone walls and barns, important flower-rich hay meadows and valleyside woodland. Renowned for its walking routes, this region is home to the famous Dales Way, which passes close to Buckden Pike. "We booked Cliiford House Farm because we wanted somewhere where we could get together with our four children, their respective other halves and our granddaughter, plus two dogs. It worked really well. The house is very comfortable, in good decorative order, with a well equipped kitchen and with good quality linen provided. The welcome tray on arrival with tea, coffee, biscuits and milk in the fridge was a nice touch. The nine of us, plus baby enjoyed memorable communal meals around the large farmhouse kitchen table, and there was plenty of comfortable sitting space in either of the two lounges. The weather during our stay was poor, and we appreciated the efficient heating!"

"We gathered family here; three siblings, spouses and others for a reunion. The accommodations far exceeded our expectations and the location was perfect for all. The kitchen was well equipped and stocked with ample cutlery and crockery for our large group. We didn't light the fire or wood burning stove but it was ready to use. Having 3 bathrooms was great as well as 2 lounge spaces. Having a house full didn't feel claustrophobic because the space was well utilized. Convenient for Grassington, Skipton, Hawes and Leyburn the location gave plenty of options available for those that didn't want to walk. It's unfortunate that The Buck Inn is closed because it left nowhere to eat locally for an evening meal. However the White Lion in Cray was amazing. This property is ideal for large groups, walkers or sightseers. "

"We rented Clifford House Farm to celebrate my husband's 70th birthday. It is large enough to accommodate all four children and partners plus grandchildren. The space is terrific. Both sitting rooms large enough to fit us all in, but also allowed some quiet space when needed. The kitchen is huge and well equipped, with a table to seat 12 people comfortably. Lovely views from just about all windows. It is tucked just behind the Buck Inn, sadly closed at present, but that meant it was very quiet. The owners are really helpful and go to any lengths to make you feel welcome. All in all and excellent holiday."

"I stayed with my two sons, daughter-in-law and a bunch of Matt's mates from Australia. They were over for fell walking from pub to pub, with about 15 miles of rugged hill between. Jen and I were backup drivers, delivering to the departure point (pub) and collecting them from destination (pub), where they were watching the WorldCup Rugby tournament. Another reason for their visit. Jen was mummy to them all, while we both did the shopping daily, and enjoyed excellent pub lunches in the area. while the lads were hiking the hills. We took our turn in cooking the evening meal, in the well appointed kitchen while they watched more rugby on the TV. Plenty of room for the 8 of us, plus we celebrated Matt's Grandpa' 99 'th birthday with other family members including my other daughter-in-law, Granddaughter, and first wife. A very large kitchen table and two comfortable living rooms, one with a wood burner making a cosy warm atmosphere. Lovely place to stay: could not fault it, and two minutes from the Buck Inn. I would revisit if I could!"

"The house was very nice ,once we had got it warm and that took 3 day's,so not the best start to a holiday, with young grandchildren.Buckden is very nice, pity about the buck inn,as we were looking forward to eating there,no food and very run down. What we liked best was the wonderful kitchen ,and the very large table, and the only warm place to sit !.least never go there in the winter, unless the owner has told the caretaker to put the heating on."

"Lovely cottage. Very comfortable and clean. A garden would have made it slightly better as we had small children and couldn't use the patio which was at the end of the lane. It is however in a lovely peaceful spot right next to the Dales way and Buckden Pike. Easy driving distance to the Three Peaks, Skipton, Bolton Castle, Leyburn, Hawes."

"The ouse was excellent for our needs. Enough bedrooms to sleep us all. Games to keep us entertained, a week functioned kitchen. Wood and fire to keep us warm. From the village we were able to walk straight out of the house on to an excellent walk along the Dale tops without needing a car. Only downside - its a shame the pub has closed down - hope it reopens soon."

"We rented this cottage for my husband's 60th birthday - We invited some of our friends. We all had the best of times. We had the birthday meal at the restaurant attached to the village shop - it was brilliant. Plenty of other places to eat in the village, all very good. Did some lovely walks straight from the house and must return some day to do some more. The cottage was huge - lovely family kitchen where we all ate breakfast together. Lovely bedrooms and 2 living rooms. so plenty of room for all. Recommend this cottage and hope to return, maybe for MY 60th!!"
