Reviews
"We have stayed here twice now, and will be booking two weeks for next year. The cottage is a Charming rustic place and has good facilities. Now its an old farm house not the ritz ok, i have read some of the reviews here which in my honest opinion are unfair. Ok you get flies in the country guys but we booght some fly papers in Rhayader and it was sorted. Now as for the mud comments you need to get a life. You get muddy walking across any countryside if its wet. But i have taken photos of the driveway and gat areas for you to see its har packed stone. As for the drive in take it slow enjoy the views. There are three gates the one from the main road goes up past the farm cottage thats a metal road as you open first gate, drive with care digs maybe and sheep. There are two more gates to the holiday cottage. Someone complained about having to open gates, i wonder does he have doors on his property. So you get parked up on the parking hard gravel patch no mud. Enjoy the cottage sit outside with a cuppa and watch the amazing display of red kites. There is loads to do in the area as the Elan dams are only 35 mins away. I would say if you want a bit of luxury take the bits you need, we took our coffee grinder and caffitier also my kitchen knives and big chopping board. I would also take a big pan if you cook bolognaise or curry etc. However there is a full set of pans provided. There is a Bath and seoerate power shower which is really good. If you do not want to cook the pub in Llanbister has a great menu we called in three times it was good quality. If you have a dog there is a dog room if you want to go out with beds and dog towels in case of mud. I would like to say how much we enjoy the tranquil surroundings yo can sit outside for hours, we never used the tv at all, but fed the birds and watched them."
"wonderfully remote, this spacious cottage is tastefully decorated and furnished. Large garden with plenty of shade. Access would be challenging for us off season in our little cars as there is a large cattle field with sparse hardcore to cross and ground is quite uneven. Also up to 4 gates to open/close. If the hardcore was reinstated we would use this cottage year round. Cottage was clean throughout with the exception of kitchen appliances. Oven/microwave were in need of a thorough clean and freezer compartment in fridge was frozen up with previous occupants food still in there. however this cottage's location and space would draw us back especially if the garden was made more dog proof, well worth the effort for all those dog owners I would be happy to recommend the cottage to if this was done."
"When first arriving at the cottage without warning you have to get in and out of your car to open gates ankle deep in mud not once but twice it's the only way to get to the property and everytime you leave or return you can't go to the shops or for a meal without getting coverd we have stayed in cottages at this time of year but never had to get out of the car into several inches of mud this needs the 80 metre drive sorted out beware ."
