Situated in a wonderful sheltered spot beneath the dramatic North Hill, the popular seaside resort of Minehead is located on the spectacular North Somerset Coast. This welcoming town offers a mile long esplanade as well as an impressive golden beach and pretty harbour, visited in the summer by the famous paddle steamer Waverley. Excellent fishing is also available here and visitors can enjoy a nostalgic steam train journey on the West Somerset Railway from the seafront, or alternatively, take a trip to Blenheim Gardens - winner of numerous awards for its beautiful floral displays and fascinating model village. Renowned for the largest herd of red deer in England, Exmoor National Park offers great walking routes through its wooded valleys and heather clad moors whilst the magnificent Norman Castle at nearby Dunster is an excellent attraction for those interested in history.
Reviews
"It's a beautiful apartment with lovely view from the balcony the apartment is to a very good quality not just your bog standard so pleased with apartment rebooked for next year"
"First the positives -Kittiwake is a spacious apartment with some lovely features. It appears to be managed well and was spotlessly clean on our arrival . The pretty flowers and pint of milk in the fridge were much appreciated. It has the benefit of sea views and we enjoyed sitting on the balcony and looking out to sea. The apartment looked better internally than the photos in the advert and appears to have recently been redecorated and new leather sofas purchased. Some of the neighbours were a little noisy , particularly late at night and early morning , but this did not escalate into a major problem. However, in our opinion, Minehead as a resort is pretty dire. It was akin to 'the land that time forgot' and for the most part seems to cater for the guests at the Holiday camp when they venture out . Minehead's saving grace is the steam railway, which enabled us to leave this grotty resort without having to drive. We went in to town on our first evening at 6.30pm and a young man and woman, both drunk, were openly fighting in the street - and there were lots of other drunks in the immediate vicinity and outside the bars . The better end of the resort is certainly towards the harbour. We ended up spending most of our holiday in North Devon and just using the apartment as a base to sleep, which was not our original intention. It's a shame really because the apartment was so nice . If it was in a different resort we would have no hesitation in staying there again - however we have no desire to ever visit Minehead again. The apartment deserves the 4 stars we have awarded it but wish to make clear that the rating is for the apartment and most certainly not for this drab, tired resort ."
"We like to visit new places as often as possible and our first time in Minehead has definitely been made more enjoyable by this stunning apartment. Beautiful features, modern with some original features very light and airy and best of all a balcony well positioned to enjoy the sea views. Our first night we left the windows open and fell asleep to the sound of crashing waves, also a joy to wake up to! Would recommend Kittiwake to anyone thinking of visiting Minehead The only slight negative is the noisy neighbours the sound proofing could be a little better but for the sake of a week in beautiful surroundings we can definitely live with it!!"
"Fantastic apartment, clean, bright and spacious. Very close to shops/pubs etc and overlooking the bay itself. Parking was easy (even in August) and everyone was extremely helpful and friendly. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and wouldn't hesitate to recommend Kittiwake to friends and family."
