The small hamlet of Meathop is situated in the southern Lake District National Park, just a few miles from the coastal estuary, a quiet and peaceful area occupying a rural location on the path of the Cumbrian Coastal Way. Nearby is Lindale, sitting on the slopes of Hampsfield Fell, with a true 'Lakeland feel' to its narrow streets, traditional dwellings and quaint old pubs.
Reviews
"Although this flat is part of a large complex of holiday accommodation, it feels like a home, with lovely spacious rooms. So refreshing to find a holiday let with room to move around! We found fresh bread, butter and dog snacks on arrival, all very much appreciated. Oh, and a lovely bottle of wine! Well-equipped kitchen, good shower, comfy beds, good internet, plenty of books and DVDs if necessary. It's a very peaceful location, convenient for visiting Grange, Cartmel and the Lakes. We loved it!"
"The cottage is very comfortable and homely. There is everything you need with a good choice of board games. It was ideal to go back to after a long day out. The location is perfect for a walking holiday. There is a lovely pub a stone's throw away. Grange over sands is a 30 min walk. From here you can get trains to other areas. The owners have put together a guide of walks which is really useful. The neighbours are very friendly and have lots of knowledge of the area. We will be back!!"
"My son and I stayed here over Christmas as it is a stones throw from my family. It is a lovely house, clean and tidy and with every type of anything you could want. Including a fully equipped kitchen. Games. Dvds. TV n etc... I challenge you to need something which isn't provided!! It does have WiFi, however if you are used to fast Internet speeds. Forget it as you are in the middle of no where, so turn off your phone and speak to your relatives!!! The owners left bread, milk, butter, prosecco and mince pies. A lovely gesture. The nearest shops are in Grange over sands a couple of miles away. However there is a small shop at the nearby caravan club site. The Woodlands Hotel which is next door to Meathop Grange provides good food which is worth a visit. Lovely place to stay. It does have lots of steps around the place so if you have mobility issues may not be the place to go."
"Holly Daze is a hidden gem. We were looking for some peace and quiet over the bonfire weekend and this place delivered! On our arrival the owners had left us a welcome gift of bread, butter, milk and a bottle of wine, this was a lovely touch. The apartment is very spacious, clean and homely and had everything you need for self catering. There is a covered porchway which is great to kick off muddy boots after a long walk, we took our border collie and it was great for drying her off. There are plenty of books, dvds and board games to keep you entertained and also local walks on the doorstep. There is a communal garden, which although we didnt use, would be lovely in the summer months. The Woodlands hotel is a stones throw from the apartment and serves delicious food if you fancy a night off from cooking, dogs are welcome in the bar area. Holly Daze is a great base for exploring the Lakes and is surrounded by wild life. We were woken one night by the local deer trotting around the grounds! We will certainly be returning to Holly Daze!"
"This was our first stay at Holly Daze, which is situated in a great location for the Lake District, Morecambe Bay and also the South Lakeland peninsulas. Meathop Grange is a friendly and welcoming place, and we found neighbours (resident and visiting) friendly and helpful. There's a pub in the woods, only a few hundred metres away. A clean and comfortable cottage, which clearly welcomes pets. A very quiet and tranquil spot set in peaceful woods. We found the cottage to be very well-equipped in terms of all kitchen supplies. The one big drawback for us as we were on a 'working holiday' was the lack of wifi in the house, despite this being indicated as an advantage of the property. There is no wifi router actually in the house, so guests are reliant on being able to 'tune into' the wifi next door! The owner accepted no responsibility for this. All in all, though, a very enjoyable holiday."
"What a gem of a find! Not a far drive to Holly Daze, Meathop from our home and very easy to find, with a parking space upon arrival. A very welcoming property which is spacious throughout and is clean and well presented. A lovely thought and a real treat to have a fresh loaf of bread, butter, milk and a bottle of wine in the kitchen for us to help us settle right in. There was every pot and pan you could need, washing up liquid and dishwasher tablets, oil, tea, coffee, sugar etc. The sofa's and beds were very comfortable and the bathroom was modern with a powerful shower. A vast array of DVD's, books, a good tv and wifi kept us well entertained when we were inside. I would highly recommend this property to couples, and families alike. We went with our 3 month old son which perfectly suited our needs. Although there's no bath, he enjoyed his first 'sink' bath and there was plenty of space for the crib we took with us next to the double bed. The cottage is in a fantastic location, nearby to Grange-over-Sands which is just 2 mile walk away. Nearby there are local small supermarkets for your needs without having to go afar. We can't wait to go back!"
"Absolutely amazing, cannot recommend highly enough, spotlessly clean, everything you could possibly want, plenty of room , beds sooooo comfy + fresh bread, top quality butter, milk & bottle of wine in the kitchen on arrival (lovely touch). cannot wait to return. thank you for use of your fantastic apartment"
"Had a the pleasure to stay at this wonderful cottage in March and absolutely loved it. The cottage was spotlessly clean and spacious, everything you need is right there. Surrounding areas are stunning and peaceful just what you want on ur week away. Plenty of local walks to enjoy and a lovely hotel pub a mere stones throw away that serve excellent food. A real home from home, we loved staying here that much we have booked another week in June and can't wait to get there."
