The small market town of Craven Arms, known as The Gateway to the Marches is conveniently located between the beautiful medieval town of Ludlow and delightful Church Stretton. Craven Arms is an ideal base, which nestles close to the scenic Wenlock Edge and Corvedale Valley with fine walks from the town to lovely Stokesay Castle, one of England's finest fortified manors, or the very popular Shropshire Hill Discovery Centre. The town also has some charming and historic houses, including a round house, thought to be a recognisable rest house for pilgrims travelling between Wigmore and Shrewsbury Abbeys and the fascinating 'Museum of Lost Content'. Just two miles away in the village of Wistanstow is the Plough Inn, a good local wood brewery. ChurchStretton is close by and nestles between the Long Mynd and Caradoc Hills, renowned for their scenic walks and excellent golf course. The historic towns of Bishops Castle, Ludlow and Shrewsbury are a short drive away, and offer magnificent castles, riverside walks, wonderful shops, pubs, restaurants, exciting theatres and a variety of festivals. This is a perfect base for touring all of beautiful Shropshire at any time of the year.
Reviews
"Just arrived home from our second visit to this absolutely beautiful cottage and it didn't disappoint! Beautiful, clean, spacious cottage in a wonderful location with plenty of walking on your doorstep. Fantastic enclosed garden for dogs and children. Had everything we needed for a lovely stay! Thanks so much for the cake it was a lovely touch! Hope to return in the future."
"It was our second trip to Bynebrook, it is such a good base for the family to get together , and worth going for the grandchildren just to splash in the nearby ford each day! Very welcoming, home baking and apple juice awaiting us and clean, comfortable rooms with lots of hot water for mucky children (and adults!) Lots to do locally, country walks in the Stretton Hills, a day out at Attingham Park and another day on the Severn Valley railway. Excellent all round."
"Stayed at Byne Brooke Cottage in August. The cottage had very large rooms and provided more than enough space for six adults, a baby and two large dogs. There was homemade apple juice and lemon drizzle cake waiting for us on arrival, both of which were absolutely delicious! The owners were close by if we needed anything but left us to enjoy our holiday. Everything we needed was there anyway, including a travel cot and plenty of sheets. The beds were very comfortable and the furnishings were lovely. The garden is secure enough to let dogs out without worry and the barbecue is an added bonus! There are two pubs within walking distance. We went for a drink at The Plough and returned later in the week for a meal which was nice. There is a public footpath to walk there which one of our party found when he went for a run. No need to walk along the main road. We enjoyed visiting Ludlow, Stokesay castle, Ironbridge and Cardingmill Valley."
"Beautiful cottage in an idyllic location. Exceptionally clean and spacious with everything that you need! Fantastic enclosed garden if you have children/pets. Short drive to a very good local supermarket/pub and lots of walking opportunities available. The owner is extremely helpful and friendly and makes gorgeous lemon cake ( thankyou!). Hope to return we've had an absolutely perfect, relaxing week!"
"Spent Christmas 2016 at this lovely house, the rooms are all large , there is a log burner in the lounge which is great on a cold winters night. Dogs are welcome and you have access to the farms 350 acres to walk in. Mr & Mrs Morgan could not of been more welcoming. We highly recommend this place as a holiday retreat away from a busy life. We also took my mother with us which was her first holiday in nearly 30 years and she thoroughly enjoyed it. The bedrooms are a good size and one has an ensuite, the main bathroom has a bath and shower. There is also a garage which is great for bikes or a trailer We enjoyed it so much here we have booked again for next April for a mid week break"
"Having stayed at Strefford Hall Farm properties before we were interested in this cottage for a holiday with friends. To say that we were overwhelmed by the place would be an understatement. It far exceeded our expectations not only by the quality of the furnishings, but the space it afforded to us. A very peaceful haven where everything was provided. Fantastic comfortable beds, a well fitted kitchen, very light and airy throughout, with a spacious garden. Craven Arms is a place not frequented by many Tourists and is an ideal spot to explore the Englis/Welsh border. We enjoyed our stay so much that we booked for next year before we left. Suitable for discerning visitors only."
