Reviews
"Wonderful Stay. Would Go again, the worse thing about about the stay was the 12 mile drive for milk!!!. The cottage is well equipped, everything you should need for a short stay. Comfortable, warm and beautifully clean. The night sky's were just the bees knees and we got to see the northern lights on two nights. We spent alot of time in the garden in the middle of the night with camera's. Location is perfect if you want and escape from the rat race and we came home with batteries fully charged."
"This cottage is fantastic - it has a wonderful view over the Loch. Sitting out on the outside bench and enjoying the changing colours of the loch, birds and the wonderful sheep in the nearby field. The home is very well equipped and the location is perfect for enjoying a quiet week in this wonderful area."
"This is a great cottage and the views are amazing. We were two couples and one dog, the size of the place was perfect. It is well equipped, although there were no scales in the kitchen, not a major issue by any means though! It was lovely and cosy in the evening and we loved sitting around the dining table for our meals over looking the loch, so peaceful. The nearest supermarket (Tesco) we used was in Ullapool which is about 45 minute drive (no supermarkets deliver to that area). Definitely try the Seafood Shack there, it's well signpost. Only thing I would say is that it's described as an enclosed garden, it definitely isn't!"
"We stayed at Birch cottage for a week, just 2 of us and our dog. We regularly have cottage holidays in the North West highlands but this was our first stay here. The cottage is lovely, very clean, well decorated and very well equipped. The views from the front are stunning and we passed a few hours just sitting at the dining table looking out the window. The beds were comfortable (great pillows!) as were the couches. We only had to light the woodburner on the first night as the weather was amazing the whole week. The cottage sits on a working croft, which we hadn't been aware of, but other than not being able to let the dog off lead this wasn't a problem, in fact the sheep and lambs right in front of the cottage were quite friendly and the lambs were hysterical to watch when they started bouncing around playing. One criticism, if it is that, the garden is not enclosed as stated in the description. I advised the owner that we were disappointed by this and she apologised and explained they are trying to buy the land round the cottage and will change the description to reflect this. If we had known the garden was not enclosed we would not have chosen this cottage, but it turned out fine so I'm glad we did. There is so much to do nearby, I would definately recommend Guinard Beach, particularly for a sunset if the weather is good. Also Red Point Beach. Food wise we didn't eat out much as we had our dog with us but I would very highly recommend the shellfish shack in Ullapool, the scallops and cullen skink were amazing. We would definately return to Birch cottage at some point if the garden gets fully enclosed, meanwhile I would recommend it to anyone who wants a comfortable cottage in a beautiful location."
"This was a lovely homely cottage in a great location. We had everything we needed provided and only brought food supplies. The owner left some lovely extra touches like coffee, tea etc and a bottle of sparkles to see in the new year. The area itself was free from light pollution and so had amazing views of the skies at night. During the day there are many local beautiful rural beaches and coast views. Extremely dog friendly and lots of lovely walks from beaches, hills to forests and lochs."
