"My husband and I had the pleasure to spend Christmas in this delightful cottage in a beautiful village location. The cottage is beautifully presented and has everything you need for a cosy stay the log burner was lovely to come home to after a long walk or day in the beautiful surrounding villages. The owners have made this a stylish retreat and are also very helpful and friendly checking in that your okay but not intrusive. The joy was that the dog was welcome too but you would not know its a dog friendly cottage as its so clean and fresh unlike some other places we have stayed! After a challenging year it was just perfect to spend quality time in such a perfect place........Cannot recommend highly enough thanks for a wonderful stay oh and the delicious Rocky Road cake and wine were a fabulous welcome!"

"Great location to explore both the Moors and Dales from. Lots of info on the area in the cottage. Cottage itself was perfect for myself and my two little dogs, with parking right outside the door. Very clean, tidy and comfortable to return to, after long days of walking. I stayed in and cooked each evening, as the kitchen had everything and there is a great farm shop in the next village that had a wide selection of food. Will be returning."

"We had a brilliant stay at Grove Cottage. It was cosy and very comfortable. The owners were very helpful when we arrived telling us about local eating places and also gave us a lovely welcome pack. "A lovely cosy cottage ideal for a couple. It had everything we needed for a week and we went out for full days every day. Lovely welcome from the owners with a pack of essential food items and wine and delicious lemon cake. A car and willingness to use it on every occasion is however essential as nothing is within walking distance, but the quiet solitude and very comfortable bed more than makes up for this! Plenty to do in the area and we were very lucky with the Yorkshire weather. So thank you, yes we had a really great week."

"We stayed at Grove Cottage for a week with my Jack Russell, upon arrival we were greeted with a lovely welcome pack which included milk, baguette, butter and home made lemon drizzle cake. The cake was scrumptious!! The location of the cottage proved to be the ideal base for our walking holiday. The cottage was extremely well presented not to mention well equipped, we made the most of all the facilities. The bed was extremely comfortable together with the large bathroom was superb. When resting weary limbs in the evenings the TV and DVD player proved very welcome, not to mention the nice selection of movies.?Cooking facilities were excellent and we catered for ourselves each evening and enjoyed the cosy atmosphere of the cottage.?We had a truly lovely time and would love to return in the future and will recommend to friends and family.? Thank you Jeremy and Judith for making our stay so memorable."

"My wife and I stayed at Grove Cottage for a week and found it to be the ideal base for our walking holiday. Within easy reach of Thirsk, Ripon, Fountains Abbey, Rievaulx Abbey, Brimham Rocks, Yorkshire Dales and the North Yorks Moors. The hosts were very welcoming and helpful. We found the cottage to be clean and well equipped and will be returning (which is unusual for us as we like to visit different places/locations). Thoroughly recommend this cottage."

"We stayed at Grove Cottage with our well behaved dog during Feb half term. On arrival we received a welcome pack which included milk, wine, baguette, butter and home made lemon drizzle cake..yum! The cottage was extremely well equipped and we made the most of all the facilities. The big comfy bed and the bath were out of this world. There were plenty of guide book and leaflets for things to do even pointing out dog friendly places to eat which was great. Little extras like DVDs to watch on a chilled out afternoon were appreciated and we made the most of them! Cooking facilities were excellent and we catered for ourselves each evening and enjoyed the cosy atmosphere of the cottage. We had a truly relaxing time and will definitely return. Thanks guys for making our stay so enjoyable. "

"A very lovely cottage and defiantly worth booking. Bedroom and bathroom were wonderful. Bed very comfy. Heating and log burner were great it was very cosy. Oven was very good. Nice big dishwasher with plenty of tablets. Only criticisms would be that some of the kitchenware such as baking trays, kettle, mugs and some cutlery were a bit old and stained. They could do with being renewed. Also no extra bin bags or washing up sponges/ scouerers."

"My wife and I liked the look of Grove cottage from the website and decided to spend a weekend (3 nights) with our very well behaved dog. The cottage is situated behind the main house and as such is a very quiet location, We were greeted on arrival by Judith and shown around the cottage. It had everything that we required even a nice bottle of wine and complementary cake (nice touch). The location of the cottage puts you centrally between the Dales and Moors and, as we had good weather, we travelled around both. The weekend proved to be a very relaxing break away from it all and we will return for another weekend in the not too distant future."

"Myself and my fiance stayed at this wonderful, warm and welcoming cottage in the village of Skipton-on-Swale in North Yorkshire in September 2017. Grove cottage is situated behind the main house and is let out by the delightful and friendly owners Jeremy and Judith. Upon arrival a ready supply of tea and coffee was available to us as well as milk, butter, french baguette, lemon drizzle cake and a bottle of red wine as an arrival gift. These arrival gifts were a really lovely touch and were extremely well received after a long drive up from Berkshire. We found the cottage to be well presented and clean, there are several original features and a lot of the interior decorations give a classic cosy cottage feel. In terms of the location, Skipton-on-Swale is a picturesque village ideally situated for travel to the Yorkshire Dales, North Yorkshire Moors, York City, Ripon City and Skipton. The nearest big town with a supermarket is Thirsk. Skipton-on-Swale itself does not have any shops as far as I can could tell, the nearest local shop is Smithy's farm shop in Baldesby village. Skipton-on-Swale was the site of a temporary RAF Airfield during WW2 and there is a plaque dedicated to airman lost during the war in the centre of the village. For any WW2 buffs there our some original buildings on the old site of the airfield a short walk from the cottage. In summary, I fully recommend Grove cottage to anyone considering holidaying in North Yorkshire. It is warm, welcoming and well presented with lovely and accommodating owners. Skipton-on-Swale is a lovely quaint village and is the perfect base camp to access the Dales and the Moors. We want to visit Yorkshire again to complete the activities we didn't have time for and would consider Grove cottage the ideal place to stay again."

Cottage very comfortable, with everything you might need for a stay at anytime of year. Fountains Abbey, RHS Harlow Carr, Newby Hall are all worth a visit, and also cities like Harrogate, York and even Leeds are all within an hours drive."

"Hidden behind Grove House is the excellently appointeded Grove Cottage. In bygone days it was the housekeeper's residence. Furnished to high standard everything was supplied for a comfortable and enjoyable stay. An excellent welcome pack greeted us and there was a good supply of logs and kindling for those 'boy scouts' who enjoy exploring the woodburner! The surrounding area is saturated with tourist attractions for all ages and there are good restaurants within easy striking distance. All in all an excellent property and well worth a visit."

"My husband and I stayed at Grove Cottage for 5 nights with our Jack Russell. It is furnished to a high standard - with a fabulous wood burner and comfy bed. Location wise it's great for dog walks. Thirsk is only 4 miles or so away with some great pubs for lunch. Train to York only takes about 20 mins or so too. Jeremy is an incredibly friendly host - providing lovely lemon drizzle cake on arrival and a rather tasty bottle of red. There really is no wifi - be prepared. It's a god send if you're needing a break from work and there are plenty of free hotspots in the town!"

"Stayed here between xmas and new year for a relaxing couple of days. Beautiful cottage and some lovely little added extras included from the owners, wine, sweet mince pies, fresh bread and butter. 20 min drive to Sutton bank national park. A great Indian restaurant 10 mins along road. Collection only. Close to thirsk."

"The cottage was warm, welcoming, nicely decorated and well-equipped. We were delighted to find a Christmas tree and other Christmas decorations when we arrived, which made it seem even more cosy. It was in a good location for driving to Thirsk, Ripon, Fountains Abbey, etc. The spacious bedroom held a large comfortable bed and plenty of storage space. The bathroom was equally spacious and contained a large traditional-style bath with a hand-held shower attachment, suitable for a long relaxing soak after a day's walking. In addition to the usual equipment, the kitchen had basic supplies like coffee and tea, bread and butter, and cleaning materials, plus the welcome bonus of some tasy home-made mince pies and a bottle of wine. The only slight disadvantage was that we couldn't get a wifi signal or a mobile phone signal during our stay, but this was a minor inconvenience. We would certainly recommend this cottage, and would stay there again."

"Stayed at this beautiful cottage with my husband, 7 year old son and 11 year old dog. It looked exactly has it is shown in the pictures and was absolutely spotless. The little touches from the owners was a lovely surprise, fresh bread and butter, lemon drizzle cake, a pint of milk and a bottle of chilled white wine. The cottage has a lovely wood burning stove which is all made up and ready to light, however, the central heating is so good and the cottage so toasty we didn't need it - must stay again when it is even colder. The cottage is a fabulous base for visiting the local attractions, Studeley Royal Park & Fountains Abbey, Lightwater Valley or venturing into the lovely town off Ripon for a mooch round the shops. The cottage has everything you need for a lovely relaxing break in beautiful surroundings. We would definitely recommend it."

"We stayed here on our honeymoon and had a lovely time at Grove Cottage. The owners were very friendly and the cottage was beautifully presented and lovingly furnished. From the quarry tiled kitchen floor to the handcrafted slate table mats, it greatly exceeded our expectations. It was in a very quiet area and was a handy distance from Thirsk and the North York Moors. We would definitely stay there again and recommend it to others!"
