Filey is a traditional English seaside resort with a friendly atmosphere, offering a restful holiday. A fishing town on the North East Coast, Filey has enjoyed a reputation of being a resort since Victorian times, set affront the magnificent Filey Bay, a long stretch of beautiful sand, with Filey Brigg and its shallow rockpools to the north. The town itself seems almost caught in a time warp, retaining much of its character with individual shops, narrow paths and ginnels.
Reviews
"Stayed here for a week in September and on the whole thought it was a lovely house. I left a review on Sykes website but, I presume, because it was honest and not completely glowing it's no longer on there. I mentioned that it really isn't dog friendly as you are not allowed to have your dog in the living room, so any evening in your dog couldn't lie on the floor in the room with you. Also mentioned the bedroom with the double bed is the smaller of the two. You have to inch your way around the bed which is not that easy in the dark. If there was more details on the website or reviews such as the one I left been on there we would have chosen something more suitable. As I said earlier there were plus points, downstairs is lovely, enclosed yard, very clean, on road parking but never much of an issue and very close to town. "
"Exactly as the owner advertises. No shocks or surprises here. Good clean comfortable accomodation within easy walking of the town and sea. We had a very pleasant stay here, peaceful neighbours either side and everything in the property that you could need on a weeks break. Only small drawback is the availability of parking, early arraival on a Saturday is strongly advised."
"Yet another week enjoyed in Puffin house has all you need and is dog friendly. It is a good base for local area ie: visiting Bridlington,Whitby and Scarborough for days out. A short walk to the beach. Have booked again for a week in the summer. Good choice of local pubs that are dog friendly as well."
"We stayed here for the weened in the beginning of February. The house has everything you need, and is neat and functional. Great location and only a short walk to the beach. Plus nice open fire, we took our own logs and got nice and toastie!"
"One of the best things about staying here was the location, the train station is in walking distance to get into Scarborough, it is also very close to Filey seaside and there is a big Tesco very near too. It was clean and tidy and overall a really nice place to stay where i'd definitely come again."
"This cottage is in a good location and is quite well equipped, however there are a number of minus points. It is advertised as dog friendly, however only after we booked we were told that our dog was not allowed in the sitting room. Who wants to sit in evening without their dog! Had we known hat before booking, we would not have booked here and would not return. The bed was extremely hard and it was not possible to walk around the end of it as it was so close to the wall. The drain outside the back door is very deep and dangerous. I fell into it, twisting my ankle and falling on to the concrete of the yard. The drain should be covered to prevent accidents. Due to the above problems, we cut our holiday short after only 4 days and came back home."
