Reviews
"Ridge Hall is a wonderful house which accommodated our extended family of 10 with ease. The snooker table, piano and two tv's kept the younger ones occupied, still leaving quiet corners for reading etc. Bedrooms are really impressive, 4 poster beds a speciality! The garden has great views and provides a pleasant area to sit outside, as long as you don't mind sharing the lawn with the odd visiting sheep!Walks into the wilds of the Peaks can start from the front drive and a whole host of attractions too numerous to mention (see tourist information sites) are within a reasonable drive away. Nearby Buxton or Chapel-en-le-Frith have large supermarkets and loads of eating places. Slightly disappointing was that the woodland adjoining the property is not accessible, too dangerous with hidden drops apparently. The signage from the road is designed to deter anyone entering the lane, 'Footpath only, no vehicles' with no clue that Ridge Hall is at the bottom, caused some of the family to spend some time driving back and forth along the single-tracked road looking for the house. The whole family were so impressed that we are already planning a return visit."
"Our party of 15 booked this immaculate property for our annual early Christmas meet up. When we arrived we found everything we could possibly ask for, a great house near the hill top with grand architectural features, well-equipped kitchen including AGA stove, large dining room and lounge each with separate woodburners, separate snug with piano/games for the children. One of the best locations in the Peaks for hill walking in my opinon, I recommend to check out the Beehive Inn local pub in the valley, too."
"We stayed at Ridge Hall for bonfire weekend as a group of 12 including 3 toddlers. The house is beautifully maintained, very welcoming, cosy and with plenty of space for individuals to find some peace and read a book. There is lots to do around the peak district so the hall is in an ideal location for families with energetic children. Pros: Incredible house, log fires, four poster beds, stunning views, safe for young children, plenty of bathrooms. Cons: It took a while to find such items as cutlery and figure out the layout of the house. Not a bad thing as it adds to the mystery of the building."
"Amazing place to hold a family get together. Beautiful house, gorgeous bedrooms, excellent facilities, if you plan on doing some cooking you may need a few more kitchen cooking utensils. We ordered catering through Lomas in Buxton who were excellent and very good value. Would definitely recommend this house to friends and family"
"We spent a weekend at Ridge Hall. The property is spacious and quirky in its layout, meaning that a large group could stay here with relative privacy. The property is decorated beautifully and has everything you need for your stay such as kitchen equipment, games room, TVs, wifi and plenty of towels and spare blankets. Sitting by the open fire in the evening was lovely, and the idyllic surroundings are perfect for country walks. The owner was helpful and the stay was really easy and stress free. I would highly recommend staying here to any groups of family or friends."
"Extremely comfortable and very well appointed. We booked it in order to host an extended family event over a kong weekend. It was everything one could reasonably expect from a large country house. The dining room was like something out of Downton Abbey, the lounge was large and exquisitey furnished and the bedrooms large and luxurious. Equally there was a snug room where one could escape the family mayhem Simply stated, it exceeded all expectations."
"We hired this place to accommodate for family who were coming from far for a wedding. The house is beautifully located in the countryside and has plenty to keep everyone busy for all ages. The garden is huge, giving us space to play family cricket matches. We had a few minor hiccups but the owner stayed in contact even though he was abroad and managed to get everything fixed very quickly without causing any disruption to our fun. Will definitely be wanting to stay here again."
"Ridge Hall was very comfortable and easy to enjoy its ambience with a good group of friends. We have a wonderful time singing and dancing. The train station at the bottom of the hill had easy access to Buxton and beyond. The view over the garden and scenery was amazing. Mad layout of house but made it quirky. However the owner had not provided enough utensils in the kitchen and could have done with an extra sink in the utility room. Unfortunately the shower in the top of the house or attic was not very powerful but adequate. "
