Reviews
"Best place to stop if you want to be close to all the shops & last of the summer wine locations. Walking distance to the chip shop and a massive co op (perfect for your food shopping). Cosy cottage big enough for a family of 3. Love the cosy kitchen even with the steep stairs and beds were so comfy and warm."
"Just spend a lovely few days in this wonderful home from home. The owners have thought of everything you could possibly need and more, even torches to help you see home in the dark. Very clean and beautifully decorated. Highly recommend"
"Thank you to Rebecca and David for our holiday in your little cottage. They are the best hosts, the cottage was beautifully equipped and furnished and very warm at all times. Holmfirth is a place that you immediately miss when you leave it; there is always something more to do and it is impossible to be bored there. Parking is not always possible outside the cottage but is available just down the road in a cheap car park. Love all the little independent shops in Holmfirth, some of which only come to light on walking through the narrow streets and ginnels. Holmfirth Spice is the best take-away ever. We will be back"
"Thank you so much Rebecca for our stay in your lovely cottage. It was spotlessly clean, warm and welcoming. Located in the heart of Holmfirth, everything was walking distance. I would highly recommend it. I loved the decor and extras supplied."
"We really enjoyed our stay in this beautiful cottage. The owners provided us with anything we could ever need, and more! The cottage was absolutely spotless and presented beautifully, it really felt like a home away from home. We are going to miss having a bakery so close (it is worth checking out, only a 2/3 min walk). The Tap House was brilliant for food and drink, Shimla is an excellent Indian, and pubs like the Old Bridge Inn and the Elephant and Castle were superb for a drink. The Huntsman Inn (5 min drive away) had the best Sunday roast I have eaten in a while. Also, if you need to watch football, the Box Office bar in the PictureDrome was great. As you can see, this cottage is perfect and right in the centre of everything. We cannot wait to return!"
"What can i say except that this cottage was a delight to stop in, there wasn't a single thing wrong with it the hosts have thought of everything, its decorated to a very high standard and has all the luxuries of home.it is in an ideal location situated near all the pubs restaurants and shops and the amount of info the hosts have put together is outstanding.we will definitely be stopping there again. Thanks to the Dave and Rebecca."
"The cottage is in a great location, within a couple of minutes walk into the centre of Holmfirth where there are plenty of shops, restaurants and pubs to occupy your time. The cottage itself was spotless and in excellent condition throughout. It had all the amenities you would require and was snug, cosy and very much home from home. Would definitely recommend to others and communication and attention to detail from the hosts was impeccable pre, during and post our stay."
"We had a lovely weekend at Coombes hill cottage. The cottage is delightful with everything you could possibly need and more. It was spotless clean and a joy to stay in. Just a few minutes walk to the town centre with shops bars and restaurants."
"The cottage is centrally located and within walking distance of shops, restaurants and pubs in the center of Holmfirth. The cottage is well equipped and maintained if rather small. There is not enough room for 4 adults; my wife and I and adult son filled the bedrooms and closet. Back Lane is very narrow so we parked our small SUV in the car park on the main road below the cottage."
"We chose to stay in this cottage due to the lovely pictures on the website however upon arrival our expectations were exceeded! This cottage has everything you could possibly need and I would definitely recommend x"
"We have just returned from a lovely holiday at Coombes Hill Cottage ,Holmfirth . Everything is provided for a comfortable stay in this very cosy cottage . Good pubs and restaurants are just a stroll away ....Perfect ."
"We stayed in Coombes Hill cottage over the New Year and it was wonderful. The cottage is like a home from home. It's tastefully decorated. warm, cosy, clean and very well equipped. It had everything we could possibly want. The cottage is only a few minutes walk from Holmfirth centre which has lots of great places to eat, drink and shop. It's also on a quiet lane which meant there was very little traffic noise. Car parking on the lane is tight but we had no problems getting a spot. We would highly recommend Coombs Hill Cottage for a relaxing break."
"I've stayed in a few cottages in the last couple of years and this one is by far the best. Absolutely beautiful. The pictures of the cottage look amazing but in person, it's even better. Clean, tidy and perfectly decorated. The kitchen is more stocked up with cutlery and utensils than our own at home. We felt right at home before we had even unpacked. Holmfirth is a lovely small town with lots to see. The snow on the mountains in the background made it all the more beautiful. Would definitely stay here again. Thank you for such a wonderful stay."
"We recently spent a week in this delightful cottage. It is beautifully decorated and furnished with a lots of thought and great flair. It is very comfortable and everything had been thought of to make our stay enjoyable plus lots of extras that you wouldn't normally expect in a holiday cottage. It was spotlessly clean and just a short walk from the centre of Holmfirth. Holmfirth is an interesting small town and the surrounding scenery is stunning."
"accurately described and a very nice cottage. If you have any mobility issues, be mindful that the stairs down to the (basement) kitchen and upstairs to the bedrooms are step.....and steps down to the town are also step. If 4 people, be mindful of the smaller "double" bed in the 2nd bedroom. The cottage itself is small but very good. very clean, very warm, very comfortable. The owners have obviously put a lot of care and attention into it and it is very well equipped. Some very nice "finishing touches" to welcome you. Definitely recommend it to others"
"Central location was excellent and the cobbled lanes around the property added to its charm. Coombes Hill Cottage is very well appointed, a real home from home. The tea, biscuits and milk in the fridge awaiting our arrival was very welcome indeed. Would certainly make a return visit to it, Holmfirth and the surrounding area."
"Beautiful cottage, very clean and tidy. Vibrant little town. Loved our journey through the ginnels. A 'home from home ' . "
"The owners of this cottage have done a fantastic job of making it cosy, homely and clean as a whistle. They have thought of everything you could possibly need for your stay including shampoo and conditioner! It's beautifully decorated as well. It's very close to all the shops and cafes in Holmfirth, literally 2 minutes walk. Only things to be aware of when booking is parking is tight on the back lane but you can park elsewhere and I think you'd find this problem on most of the town centre streets. And that the second bedroom, as stated, only has a 4 foot bed not a double, so be prepared to cuddle up (or top and tail as we did!). Also the property is over 3 floors and the stairs are steep for anyone with mobility problems. But honestly this is a gorgeous place and we had a wonderful time staying for the weekend as a group of old uni friends recently."
"We stayed here for a birthday weekend, which also happened to be a beautiful Spring weekend, so Holmfirth was beautiful. It was still cold, though, so it was great to have this cosy cottage with its fire. Lovely to get into town through the tiny lanes on the hillside, and Holmfirth (as the owner told us) is one thing in the day and another at night: jigsaw-box pretty in the day, and at night great food (fish and chips to the high-end Black Cat bistro) and bars selling microbrews - all within three or four minutes of this great wee cottage."
"We loved the cottage. It is so comfortable and cosy, and furnished and decorated to a high standard, we were impressed. It had everything we needed. Our stay was short and so we felt that we only scratched the surface of what Holmfirth has to offer. The central location of the cottage, however, meant that we didn't waste any time getting to where we wanted to be. We plan to return to get to know Holmfirth better and to explore the dramatic surrounding countryside and will book the cottage again."
"Just had a lovely weekend in this cottage. It was spotlessly clean, comfortable and so homely. The owners have thought of everything and given great attention to detail. The log burner gives a really lovely feel to a winters evening with a glass of wine. Holmfirth is vibrant and full of places to eat and drink and literally only around a 2 minute walk to the centre. We thoroughly enjoyed the Picturedrome music venue and will definitely be back. "
"We have just spent a lovely week in Holmfirth in this beautiful cottage which was ideally situated, just a few steps away from Holmfirth centre, where there is a multitude of pubs, cafes, restaurants, wine bars and shops to keep you occupied. We were early surprised by the variety of restaurants and nightlife. Coombes Hill Cottage, is in a perfect location, really well equipped with everything you could possibly need and is beautifully finished. The wood burning stove was lovely on winter evenings,10 out of 10 for the helpful owners who seem to have thought of everything. We would highly recommend Brambles Bar, The Tap House, The Old Bridge Inn and the Shimla Indian restaurant. The fish and chips on Hollowgate are lovely and seems to be open all hours. For something different, a visit to the Carding Shed retro cafe is worth a look. We didn't have enough time to try everything on offer but will be back."
