Reviews
"Review by Mr C's son Sammi. Cottages are a must for truly enjoying a getaway. This is without a doubt the biggest one I have stayed in. It probably doesn't fit the criteria for a cottage anymore when rooms are this large and tall. Extremely clean on arrival, with extras such as prosecco wine and welsh cakes ready to consume, the week passed in a place of almost perfect comfort. The lounge had many comfy seats with recliners, and there are books and DVDs for all ages ready to provide entertainment. With three bedrooms, two double and one two singles, the knowledge of having three toilets gave me a lot of happiness. It's ensures me to know I am guaranteed one. My father and brother deeply enjoyed the stay. Possibly it was their favourite stay in any holiday property. I personally found a few things lacking and frustrating at times. The internet was incredibly slow, clocking at 2MB download and 0.1 upload, reminiscent of when I first experienced broadband after dial up back at the turn of the millennium. This was just about acceptable if one person was using it, but beyond that it was virtually impossible to do anything but the most basic of tasks. I understand the limitations of internet in a countryside, and accept this could be as good as it could be. The boilers for heating the shower were unusually complicated, apparently heating water on demand in the morning but not in the afternoon, and it took a couple of configurations and tests and a few days before I could have a hot shower, not being a morning person. The lightbulb in the en suite bedroom makes unhealthy sounds as if it doesn't want to be there, and the bathroom extractor fans when switched on remain loud and active for almost an hour, a significant time. However, for the majority of people this cottage would still be perfect and ideal, especially for the price, but for the minority it might need a bit for fine tuning. The cottage can hold six, and six people running on 2MB internet and immersion boilers could get unpleasantly complicated for some families. However for sheer size, it is largely unbeatable."
"From the moment we arrived to the point we left, everything about this lovely property was amazing. Well furnished to fit the property, it has feel of a lovely old property only with all the mod cons. The property has everything you need to make your home away from home, well sized bedrooms and bathrooms (3 of them so no fighting in the mornings), a well fitted kitchen with full facilities, a great living area and great outdoor area if the weather permits. There is also dedicated parking directly opposite the property. Things like the heated windows and floors were great in the mornings and little touches like milk, bubbly and welshcakes for us, and items for our dog were a real nice touch from the owner. In terms of location, this is a 2 minute drive from Llanberis, and around 20 mins to Zipworld (highly recommend). If you want to venture further afield, it took us around 30 mins to get to the lovely town of Conwy and 1hr to Chester Zoo. There are some fabulous walks in the area, we did a little research and walked back from Llanberis on the scenic side past the slate museum taking only 1.5 hours at a gentle pace. Highly recommended for a holiday in North Wales, we will be back again soon!"
"This is our second visit to Ty'n Yn Capel. We came last year to see our son, as he settled into uni life at Bangor. This year, we used visiting him as an excuse to return! The location is perfect for exploring the beautiful scenery of Snowdonia and mountain biking trails. The cosy chapel is spotlessly presented and well equipped. There is plenty of space and bike storage outside. The friendly owner, Donna, is close by should you need her but definitely not intrusive. Brynrefail is a short drive from good supermarkets, Llanberis high street and of course Bangor University."
"We stayed here for a few days in July and it was just perfect. Milk, tea, coffee, Welshcakes and a bottle of bubbly was a welcome surprise as well as treats for the dogs. The converted chapel has such a homely feel and is much larger than expected. I would love to return in the winter to be able to make use of the underfloor heating and heated windows. The property is well looked after, spotless and nicely decorated and furnished throughout. DVDs and plenty of games are available to choose from. Everything has been thoroughly thought through. The location is spectacular - just a stone's throw away from a beautiful lake and a short drive to Llanberis where we started our Snowdon ascent and enjoyed beautiful views. We will definitely be booking a longer stay at Ty'n y Capel next time and I can't recommend it enough for anyone who wants to visit this beautiful little corner of Wales."
"This converted Chapel is fabulous. My Son a Daughter in law booked this cottage and they made a great choice. We arrived after a long drive to find fresh milk in he fridge, Welsh cakes, butter and teabags and coffee available for a much needed cuppa. Along with a lovely bottle of Proseco for later. A dog basket with fresh blankets and dog treats for our pooch was also a lovely touch. This summarise how much the owners have thought about the requirements of their clientele every room is furnished to a very high standard with everything you could need and more. We were very lucky with the weather but very impressed with the heated Windows and underfloor heating. Three large bedrooms two doubles ( one en-suite ) and a large family bathroom. Their are some lovely walks in the area with a lake only a a 5 or 10 minute walk away and a lovey walk along the lakeside to the nearest town of Llamberis taking about 1 hour. If like us after a long day out you don't feel up to cooking I can recommend the Burger van parked up 5 minutes walk away I know it's not everybody's cup of tea but we had a lovey Kebab supper one night ..very tasty. Some nice little pub/ restaurants just a short drive away Central position for trips out to Bangor , Llandudno , Caernarfon. Really enjoyed our stay in this Cottage and in North Wales"
