Reviews
"My partner and I had a very enjoyable stay at Bodlondeb. The cottage was clean and well presented with all the amenities we needed. The wi-fi was especially useful as my mobile data was not available in the village."
"We loved this beautiful cottage set in a lovely quiet village close to the beach. The cottage has been renovated sympathetically so you have mod cons combined with the feel of a traditional Welsh home. The wood burning stove was welcome on the lone cold and rainy day we had. We enjoyed hiking from Fairbourne to Barmouth and from Arthog to Dolgellau knowing we would be enjoying a glass of wine on the beautiful terrace next to the river at the end of the day. Furniture and bedding were clean and comfortable."
"We have just enjoyed a most enjoyable break at this homely cottage , peaceful little village, just 5 mins walk down to the railway station which we used when we wanted a change fro m walking in this stunning part of the country, love the cottage spick and span and everything that we needed was there,"
"We had a lovely week in this cottage. The patio area is a nice place to sit and relax and the snug with fire place was really cosy. The beach is a 10 minute walk away with amazing sunsets."
"Lovely cottage amazing location amazing garden sitting by the river everything we needed was available"
"This cottage was everything i could have asked for. Clean and tidy, very well decorated. Loved the open fire in the snug, maybe nice to have small tele down there to take full advantage of the fire. Bedroom big and spacious and as for the bed, so comfortable. The stream at the back was so relaxing and lovely to sit by. Garden/patio again very well done and pretty. Found some lovely beaches nearby, full sand and lots of dunes to shelter from the wind, we had fab weather which made it even more wonderful. Local pub closed as changing hands so bit disappointing but would go back in a heart beat."
"We had a perfect holiday at Bodlondeb! The cottage is comfortable, cosy and well equipped. There are great walks from the cottage, either on the beach or over the hills for lovely views. We cycled the Mawddach trail and back over the hills via Cregennan Lakes in a loop. The scenery is stunning and a trip to the lakes is well recommended. We had a problem with our car and the people at Harris's garage in Fairbourne were lovely and got us back on the road, so we can recommend that garage if anyone has similar bother."
"We stayed over Christmas and the cottage was perfect. Very comfortable throughout, fully-equipped kitchen, great location. Most of our time was spent in the garden, which is next to the river, or in the snug chucking logs on the fire. The pub is nearby and the staff there were friendly and welcoming. The beach is under ten minutes away on foot and is well worth exploring."
"Beautiful cosy cottage by the river. It was so peaceful sitting outside by the river for breakfast listing to the birds and river. The cottage is decorated lovely and the bed is really comfortable. We spent a lot of time in the snug with the log fire on.Its perfectly situated to visit other areas by train or go on some lovely walks. The village itself has a pub with really good food serving both lunch and evening meals and a little shop selling bread milk etc just next door. The yarn bombing is good fun and it takes you on a little tour of the village. We will definitely stay again."
"Lovely little cottage which was perfect for all our needs, and situated in an ideal location for exploring the Cambrian coast line as there is a train halt stop 5 minutes walk away."
"Great little house with a lovely terrace on the river. Unfortunately the local pub is in the middle of changing hands so drive is necessary if you want to eat out for the time being. Good base for Aberystwyth, Harlech, Portmerion and Snowden. Not a beach for relaxing on as very stoney but great sunsets when the weather is good and only 10 mins walk down a track."
"We really enjoyed this holiday in a very comfy cottage. We particularly enjoyed the patio overlooking the stream and made the acquaintance of many feathered friends. We visited Dolgellau,Machynlleth market,Tywyn and Aberdyfi and the occasional visit to the Garthandgarad public housefor good beer and food. Give it a go,it is well worth it. Mind your head when entering the kitchen,...mine is nearly healed now!"
"Fantastic cottage in a very peaceful location. Realy enjoyed our stay, relaxing by the river and also exploring the local area. Cottage has everything you need for a comfortable stay."
"The first thing to say is that this is one of our very favourite rentals. A beautiful, well fitted, cottage for two in a pleasant, quirky village. One warning, however, the two internal staircases are steep, those with mobility problems should be aware. On entering the front door you are into a good size sittingroom with two leather settees and a TV with DVD. (There are a selection of DVDs available). The bathroom is off this room. Again well fitted and modern. A small, really small, bath with an efficient electric shower above. Stairs up from the living room lead to the bedroom which features a comfortable king-size bed. There is adequate storage in the wardrobe and two bedside cabinets. Leading down from the living room are the stone steps to the dining room and kitchen. The dining room also has a leather settee and wooden table with four chairs. Although the whole house is served by an efficient heating system there is a wood-burning stove in the dining room. We were blessed with great weather during our stay and so I cannot comment on its efficiency! The kitchen, though compact, is equipped with all that the visitor might require. A full-sized cooker, microwave and refrigerator as well as toaster and kettle and all the pots, pans and ancillary cooking equipment that you may need in a holiday let. A door from the kitchen leads to the highlight of the cottage, the riverside patio. Laid out with table and chairs this is an ideal place to take breakfast in the morning and wine in the evening watching the wagtails, dippers and the robin. The door to the kitchen from the dining room is very low and I guarantee you will bump your head at least once! I kept my hat on! All in all I heartily recommend Bodlondeb. One more thing. The plumbing depends on two Saniflow systems, one for the bathroom and one in the kitchen. While the bathroom gave us no problem, the kitchen unit broke down halfway through our stay. A phone call to the owner resulted in great efforts to solve the problem, including a visit from a local plumber the next day. Unfortunately, the problem could not be solved before our stay ended. This was a minor inconvenience but did not affect our enjoyment. The owner kept us updated on progress regularly by text and was obviously concerned. We were very pleased with his attention. The cottage is well placed for visiting around the area. The village shop is literally next door, over the bridge and there is a pub 100 yards away! Book with no worries, you will love it."
"Had an excellent break at Bodlondeb cottage, fell in love with cottage as soon as I opened door, visited pub in village, made feel welcome, each morning had a relaxing stroll to beach before breakfast, plenty of lovely places to visit in area without going too far, I would love to go back again,"
"This is a really nice, little cottage on the coast of north Wales. Enjoyed a great week away, with trips to very local beaches, and walks along the farm hills. Beautiful views of the countryside and ocean. Would highly recommend."
"We stayed here for 4 nights in total. A lovely little cottage in the middle of a small village. Beach just a five minute walk away and lovely local restaurant. (Indiana cuisine) The cottage really felt like home, very warm and cosy and a beautiful patio out the back with running water, perfect for a morning cuppa! We really enjoyed our stay here and will definitely think about coming back! Thank you. "
"The cottage is in the middle of the village with the pub and food just across the road Supplies for breakfast are available over the bridge."
"We arrived in the rain but this didn't dampen our spirits. The cottage is lovely with a very cosy feel and instantly felt relaxed. The facilities in the cottage are spot on and it is a lovely place to spend some time, especially with the log fire downstairs and the stream running outside the garden The shop and pubs are literally seconds away from the front door and getting about is easy, either by car or by bus and train, all near to the cottage. It is a very quiet town but exactly what we were looking for and as above, is a good base to explore the local area. We walked the Mawdach trail which was excellent and spent a bit of time in Barmouth which has some good pubs in (The Last Inn being our favourite) Locals were friendly in the local pub and we were made to feel very welcome. All in all we had a great trip and I would highly recommend it"
"Stayed at Bonlondeb with 3 adults and one toddler. What a lovely cottage. Beautifully presented and a great layout. The patio area is a great place to just sit back and relax after a day at the beach or walking in the surrounding hills. Bodlondeb has all the amenities you could ask for. The pub is next door as is the village shop (small but well stocked). The river (which the patio overlooks) leads down to the pebble beach (over the train line), however the beach at Aberdovy is only 15mins away with glorious sands. We will definitely be back next year, but for a longer stay than just the 3 nights to explore more of the area. Would highly recommend Bodlondeb cottage to anyone."
"The location is lovely - next to the river and the beach a stroll away, lots to see and do in this stunning area."
"The location is brilliant you turn a corner for the final journey to the cottage and the sight changes from green fields to sea, then coastline as far as you can see. arriving at the cottage in the village. The cottage is well maintained, clean with all the comforts of home. If you prefer a change from home cooking there is a pub 20 yards away from the cottage providing food and drink."
"Beautiful house! Wonderful location. Lovely to sit out next to river with coffee. Minor issue with electricity meant one adventure day wasted due to waiting for electrician as owner not local. But owner very lovely and dealt with it as quickly as he could. Very minor in scheme of things as house was truly wonderful, but a mild week in may and walked into house on arrival it was like a sauna, unplugged all heaters but underfloor heating was always on and just way too hot for comfort; but stable door open all breakfast and majority of evening meant we had fresh air and lovely bird song. Comfy bed. Cosy house. Lovely area. I'd happily stay there again :)"
"The other half and I visited Bonlondeb to get away for a few days just to chill out for a bit. This was the perfect place, really beautiful and quiet. The pub across the road and the shop next door pretty much have everything you would need for a few days. Barmouth and Tywyn are both short drives along the coast with plenty to do in each place, there are also plenty of scenic walks all around. The cottage is cosy with great facilities and the garden is lovely. I would definitely recommend staying if you're looking for a quiet get away. "
"The Cottage is right in the heart of the Village with a Shop on the other side of the Bridge which was very well stocked+sold Newspapers....Also the Pub is a short stroll away where we had a good Meal on the Saturday Evening. The Cottage is well maintained and felt like Home especially when we lit the Fire in the Snug....The outside Terrace is a peaceful place to sit to watch the River go by and observe the Tits on the Feeders and the Grey Wagtails in the River. The Walk down to the Beach takes only about 10mins with lots of stops to look at the Flowers,Lambs etc. Also there is an Arriva Train Request Stop which we will definitely use next time we visit Bodlondeb Cottage."
