Eyam is one of the best-preserved villages in the Peak District National Park, nestled at the foot of Sir William Hill, 800ft above sea level and is surrounded by the most glorious countryside. Historically the village is known as the famous 'plague village', as it went into voluntary quarantine when the plague was imported from London in 1665 and thus prevented the spread of the disease. There are many fine old houses in Eyam, and parts of the village have been kept as they looked several centuries ago, such as Eyam Hall (National Trust), a beautiful 17th century manor house with delightful gardens, craft shops and tea rooms.
Reviews
"We stayed at Jay's Nest for a weekend (Friday - Sunday). It was really comfortable and had everything we needed (aside from the usual consumables). The towels and bed linen were clean and soft. It was easy to follow the instructions to get access. There was a pub a short (3-4 minutes) walk away which is handy if you arrive later in the day and need a bite to eat (we didn't eat there but went there for a drink and it was very welcoming). I'd definitely return to Jay's Nest again for a visit to the Peak District."
"This is a nice warm and very very clean . Lots of nice fluffy towels and really well equipped with full size fridge freezer dishwasher (which we did not use) and washing machine. Good quality pans ect .No welcome pack but teabags coffee and a pint of milk was helpful. Also more teatowels would be good for people like us who ate main meals out so was not worth putting dishwasher on. We did have a problem with apartment door lock, which a kindly niebour helped us with, and have made owner aware so think this will not be a issue in future."
