Reviews
"We had a lovely week at Hawkfield. Very comfortable and cosy cottage in fantastic location. Our dog loved the daily run/walk up the lane to Baslow Edge or the alternative of exploring Chatsworth House Park. Large number of good longer distance walks to be enjoyed starting from the house. Hawkfield Is well and thoughtfully furnished with great kitchen and bathroom. The kitchen is very well equipped and I cannot think of anything missing. We like the ground floor layout and the comfortable dining room. The living room is cosy and comfortable (and has a sofa bed to take the guests up to 8). The kids room is a nice touch if you bring children and it comes with a good selection of games as well as being a great little den. Garden is fully enclosed bar one point at which a persistent dog might wriggle through to next door so either a well supervised dog or one on a lead. Lots of nice touches such as torches to get you down the lane to the street lit part of the village, local area walking maps and on arrival a welcome Bakewell tart and bottle of wine. Baslow is a lovely friendly village with easy access to lovely countryside as well as the large Chatsworth House park land Hawkfield is close to the village shop as well as easy walking to a choice of three and three other restaurants. The local Italian Il Lupo is excellent and does takeaway. This is a great holiday venue and the owners Mark and Pilar have taken real care and attention in creating it. We will be back for another stay. "
"The cottage was very comfortable, particularly the upstairs rooms. Bedrooms nicely furnished. Bathroom and showers really excellent. The cottage was very quiet and well located for local facilities such as shop and pubs. Kitchen well-equipped. The garden is in need of some tlc. A gate should be fitted to the garden entrance. We had dogs with us and it was really annoying that there was no barrier at all to the road."
"Stayed here last weekend, family gathering for early Christmas. Perfect for us, the family and the dog. Great walking from the door. Easy walking to Chatsworth. Warm and cosy. Already planning our next visit."
"We had a delightful week staying here in August. It is perfectly placed for most of the Peak District with a scenic walk of a couple of miles to Chatsworth. Also Baslow, Curbar and Froggatt edge are walkable from the house. Beautifully furnished, well supplied with everything you could want, very close to excellent shop for food and drink. There are a good selection of pubs and restaurants in the village. What is there not to like?"
