The Hill Cottage, MIDDLETON-IN-TEESDALE

"We have just had the most wonderful week in this gorgeous cottage ( 30th Nov )with our dog. This detached cottage is just amazing. It is beatifully decorated, and adorned with high quality furnishings. The lounge and dinning room both have wood burning fires, making it very warm and cosy, however, there is also central heating should you prefer. The house is very well equiped ( even an outside, temperature regulated, warm water tap for your dogs feet, or your boots ) The kitchen is very well equiped, with all modern appliances including a dishwasher. Both of the large double bedrooms have had the cielings raised to full roof height, giving a feeling of even more space. The beds are very comfortable, as are the pillows. Both of the bathrooms are also superb. We have been renting cottages all over the UK for over 15 years. This cottage is, without doubt, the best we have had. It is a credit to its lovely owners, who are both very helpfull, and knowlegeable about the local area. Even wine and cake in the kitchen when we arrived. We would highly recommend this outstanding cottage."

"My partner and I, plus our Bichon Frise, stayed at the Hill Cottage for a week in early February. We were given a very warm welcome on arrival from friendly owners Lorraine and John who also explained the operation of the various kitchen appliances and gave us some useful suggestions for excursions etc. Hill Cottage stands on the edge of the village-green and the shops, cafes and pubs are within easy walking distance. The village of Middleton-in-Teesdale is charming with lovely scenery and very friendly locals. The Cottage has recently been renovated to an extremely high standard. It is stylishly decorated and the furnishings and appliances are the best we have encountered in many years of staying in holiday homes. We found it comfortable, exceptionally clean, well equipped and surprisingly spacious. (For technophiles - be assured the Wi-Fi reception is good). The weather during our stay was cold - but the cottage was lovely and warm inside thanks to highly efficient central-heating and wood-burning stoves. There is also a useful Boot-Room to kick off muddy boots when returning from one of the many local walks - plus a practical down-stairs shower-room for washing muddy knees and faces! The popular TV programme 'Four In A Bed' asks a final question when assessing customer satisfaction - namely "Would you stay here again?". With regards to the Hill Cottage our answer would be a resounding "Yes"."
