Reviews
"Shortest review ever. The title line says it all! But as I have to put more in....... The cottage was renovated last year and it shows. All areas are lovely. Clean and well aired on our arrival. Milk/tea/coffee and a small welcome pack made the first brew easy after the journey up. The lounge will comfortably fit 4 adults with room to breathe and enjoy the log fire. The kitchen is smaller but not a tight squeeze. Enough pots, pans cutlery etc to keep anyone happy. Gas hob and electric oven plus a wide range of kitchen tools and such like. Upstairs are the 2 bedrooms and bathroom/loo. Master bedroom is huge and bedroom 2 is more than reasonable in size. Attachments were visible for a stair gate at the top and bottom of the stairs. The bathroom is a good size with a tub, with shower screen, sink and loo. The entrance has a coat hanging and boot area to keep wet outside clothes out of the main living area. Not needed on this visit but there is underfloor heating downstairs. Upstairs is a combination of electric radiators and a back boiler from the fire for the master bedroom. The barn is well insulated and double glazed so winter would not be a concern I would imagine. Outside there is parking for your car, a picnic table to eat outside and an area you can barbecue in. Views across the moors from the rear of the building and the front looks up the hill following the gravelled drive/farm/track. Sheep in attendance on all sides! (They seem friendly though). Positioned well and within easy striking distance of the various attractions and the Peak District itself. The owners of the property (and the farm) are very friendly. There if you need them and always up for a chat. Ask about the Herdwick Sheep! Also be prepared to meet Meg the collie. She is really friendly and greets you like an old friend. The last part of the drive in is over a farm track. You may want to consider leaving the lowered suspension boy racer mobile at home. My Skoda Superb (sedate family car) handled it OK but the owners do recommend something 4x4 if you are visiting in winter. In conclusion, would My family want to return for another holiday. A unanimous yes! Lambing season a strong contender. Forgot to mention. Booked through Sykes cottages. Painless and easy."
