The picturesque Northumberland village of Belford lies in the heart of Heritage countryside, midway between the popular walled towns of Alnwick and Berwick-upon-Tweed. The pretty coastal village of Bamburgh, with its sweeping beaches and dramatic castle, is only a short drive away. Belford itself is an old coaching village with a pleasant square and offers a variety of shops, pubs, restaurants and a nine-hole golf course. It is ideally placed for exploring the Cheviots, the renowned Northumberland Coastline and the Scottish Borders.
Reviews
"We've made it a bit of a tradition to stay in a cottage at New Year with our friends. I think Bruno's Bothy has been our favourite so far. The cottage is easy to find on the old A1 just North of Belford. Plenty of car parking at the rear and easy unpack. The cottage is easily big enough for two couples. We normally have a friendly debate over bedrooms, but both bedrooms here are big. Both have a superb view of the Northumberland coast between Lindisfarne and Bamburgh. Kitchen is small, but perfect for one person to work in with a glass of wine on the go! The kitchen is very well appointed, especially the great cooker with multiple ovens. The living and dining room is the heart of the house and is great for relaxing, dining and planning the days ahead. We spent New Year's Eve on Lindisfarne, thirty minutes away. Just remember to check the tide tables to time your visit. There and back! New Year's Day we spent with hundreds of other people who had the same idea on Bamburgh beach, ten minutes away. The pubs and tea rooms of Bamburgh were rammed full of people. We decided the cottage had everything we needed so we went back to be cosy and warm! So, a great cottage in a fantastic location means we will definitely be back."
"Family Holiday for a week in Northumberland - me, wife, 14 month old daughter and dog. This was the perfect place to stay. Well equipped cottage and all the facilities for small child and dog. Just off the A1 (off another road so not got the A1 noise) and close enough to Belford for a 20 minute walk to the pubs/shops. Also google maps doesn't show off the new garden - a south facing enclosed little sun trap with parking right next to it. If you need a base to go visit the wonderful place that is Northumberland, this is definitely the place to do it from. 20 mins from Berwick, 20 mins from Anwick, 5 mins from Bamburgh, 10 mins from Seahouses (where you get the boat to Farne Islands). 2.5 hours from Leeds - easy peasy. The cottage itself is very well equipped and quiet and very cozy. Marni the owner was great at communication - made sure we had everything we needed (e.g. travel cot and high chair on arrival) and that we had a good stay but in no way intrusive. Also sent my clothes back to me straight away after leaving a wardrobe full! Highly recommended"
"We had a smashing visit at Bruno's Bothy. Our first time to Northumberland and the location is brilliant, with views across to the Farne Islands and easy access to the A1 to get out and about. Marni was really great and got back to us quickly when we had any questions. Property is very well laid out and lovely to have a log burner/fire."
"We booked this cottage as it was pet friendly and well located to explore the beautiful county of Northumberland. Being December it was cold and snowy, we experienced some human error with the heating, which Marni and Scott bent over backwards to help us to be warm and toasty. The cottage is well equipped ( we missed a dustpan) and comfortable. Good off road parking, which is a real help. We had a wonderful time exploring, from Edinburgh, To the must see Farne Island. we would return, maybe in the spring. The most helpful and friendly cottage owners we have met. Many Thanks"
"Had a great week at Bruno's Bothy ideally situated for beaches, castles and island adventures. The cottage was like home from home we felt welcome as soon as we stepped through the door, great attention to detail throughout the cottage. Would not hesitate to recommend it."
"Booked this cottage for 4 days as a short break to celebrate my husband's birthday. The minute we opened the door we just relaxed the cottage has everything you need absolute luxury, so well equipped and lots of information on the area, a real home from home. We really wanted to stay much longer and would certainly recommend this cottage. Following our return home we realised that we had left our jackets hanging on the back door! I quick phone call to the owner Marni and things were sorted, the jackets were posted back to us in no time. I cannot thank her enough for her consideration and quick response to our problem. Bruno's Bothy is a fantastic cottage with extremely considerate owners who make you feel so welcome the minute you open and close the door "
"Excellent quirky cottage. Very well equipped ... a real home from home. Love the bathroom & shower and the quirky staircase Would highly recommend. Very comfortable base for a host of activities nearby. A trip to the carne islands is an absolute must. Only small thing that was missing is hanging space in second bedroom .. a few hooks on the wall would suffice ... but definitely 5 stars"
"My family and I have recently enjoyed a week long stay at Bruno's Bothy, near Belford, Northumberland. We were delighted with the cottage, which was absolutely beautifully decorated and had the feel of a real home from home. Everything that we needed was catered for and there was literally no stress to our stay. We were delighted that our pet dog was able to stay with us and there was a fully enclosed rear garden for her to access. The location was excellent and we were in easy travelling distance of Bamburgh, Seahouses, Alnwick and the Scottish border, all of which made for really enjoyable days out. I thoroughly recommend Bruno's Bothy and we will definitely be visiting again!"
