Falmouth, with its magnificent natural harbour (the third largest in the world), winding streets and beaches, will keep you occupied for hours. The town's old harbourside pubs, excellent shopping, art gallery and stunning National Maritime Museum simply complete the picture. Pendennis Castle, built by Henry VIII, is Falmouth's most popular attraction, sited on its own peninsula with superb panoramic sea views. Across from Falmouth harbour is the beautiful town of St Mawes, surrounded by the rocky coves, sandy beaches and lush green countryside of the Roseland Peninsula. Go there by car (15 miles) or take the passenger ferry from Falmouth (15 minutes).
Reviews
"Good points- kitchen well equipped for self catering, able to cook and do the washing. The rooms are spacious with en-suite in both bedrooms, note; beds are doubles and not twin so not suitable for non couples. Good views across the harbour and a tiny balcony but not private so be aware of sitting next to the neighbours from flat below! Bad points- The windows in bedrooms and the lounge can not be opened due to them being painted shut to the window frames, it looks like its been like that for years. We stayed during the hottest summer period and baked inside the bedrooms with no fans, there was a small front garden but there are strict instructions inside the flat to say do not open doors or access the garden except in emergencies such as fire and they were locked. The duvet in our room triggered off my husband's allergies, eventually we took the cover off to investigate and found the duvet had large patch of mould and dried deep yellow stains like dried pee. As we paid quite a lot of monies for the week to include bedding, we had no alternative bedding to use. Not wanting to spend holiday time dealing with issues, we decided to leave it until we got home only to be told we should have gone to onsite-office to complain during our holiday. However, the information we received did not say there was an office onsite and neither did we see one as it was a block of residential flats. We felt Sykes gave us appalling answers and actually made us feel like its our fault there were issues with our holiday which we paid a lot for. In summary, the flat had a luxurious look with a price tag to go in the photos, but its actually very average with hygiene and quite worn out settee and maintenance issues."
