The seaside village of Staithes boasts pretty houses and cottages which are clustered around the old harbour and surrounded by cliffs on three sides, with a sheltered sandy beach set amongst the rocky coastline. The village is a superb base for exploring the Yorkshire Coast, visiting the larger resorts of Whitby or Scarborough and enjoying the moorland villages of the North York Moors National Park.
Reviews
"What a beautiful place Staithes is and what a fantastic base to enjoy it from! Benjamin's Cottage was perfect for our family of four (two children 3 and 4) and no detail had been overlooked - they had thought of everything, including a baby gate for the stairs which I would have never expected from a holiday cottage. The cottage is beautifully decorated throughout and had everything we needed for a stress free break away including all towels, bed linen, crockery, dishcloths, tea towels, tea, coffee, games etc. Everything was spotlessly clean - my four year old even shouted as we walked in "it is so clean mummy" - perhaps doesn't say a lot for my house! Mel (the owner) provided extensive information before we arrived on how to find the cottage, where to park, how to access the keys etc, Inside the cottage was lots of information on the local area and an excellent guide on to what to do! We took the advice and visited the fish and chip shop (literally just opposite), the Cod and Lobster and enjoyed both Staithes and Sandsends beaches. If you are looking for a relaxing family break away in beautiful surroundings then Benjamin's Cottage is perfect - we can't wait to go back!"
"Very comfortable and well equipped and great welcome pack and Netflix on TV. Also a very good base to explore. but less than a week to go you get the key code and in this e mail you're told not to let your dog poo in the dog friendly enclosed garden as it can smell even when picking up this upset us a little as we would not of booked it had this been in the info at the start it should be. The only other problem was not that well cleaned in kitchen dog hairs and washing machine full of black goo and hair I cleaned it out so we could use it and cleaned the sticky mess off the tea and coffee jars on the first day we did have a great time but was a little bit surprised by this as all the other reviews were so good "
"so we booked Benjamin's cottage for a weekend, with my two boys, one 2 years and the other 7 weeks! with the husband and mother in law. on arrival the cottage presented warm and welcoming with he heating and lamps on. we were quick to see the beautiful hamper filled with yummmy surprises which was totally unexpected and such a delight. the cottage is really home from home in fact better, the cottage was very clean and well maintained and had such a homely feel to it. the bedrooms are a great size, with lots of space for travel cot (provided). and Moses a basket, and all presented very relaxing. staiths is a beautiful place to visit, and we enjoyed many little walks around the harbour, and a beautiful meal at the cod and lobster. to then return to the cottage and chill with an excellent choice of t.v. programmes with access to both Amazon and Netflixs, which is great when your in early with little ones. the garden is small/court yard style and is enclosed and is safe which is great for the pooch and my little one to play in, with a table and chairs to enjoy a cuppa. it's clear to see the owner Mel has thought of everything to make your stay perfect and so relaxing, from the outside space, to an easy to use cooker and oven, beautiful toiletries in a fabulous bathroom, information about the local area, hair dryer, Wi-Fi, and tv Amazon/netflix, and beautiful and comfortable furniture and beds there is nothing I could say to add to make it better, we all loved our stay and will certainly be going back. truly a cottage that is cared for and managed so well.10/10."
"Location in the village was great and the cottage was spotless. Staithes is a lovely little village and we were glad we choose to stay here . It was so good we stayed another day !Mel ,the owner, was easy to contact and couldn't have been more helpful - a lovely welcome package of goodies was waiting for us and the cottage had everything we needed. Wouldn't hesitate to stay here again."
"Perfect location for exploring Staithes and the Yorkshire coast. Fish and chips shop opposite was great and open late which was very handy for our first night! Good pub and shop just around the corner with everything we needed. The cottage it self was faultless, finished to a very high standard. The log burner was a nice touch with plenty of wood to burn. We all slept really well, the beds were very comfortable with good quality sheets and pillows. We will definitely be going back. Highly recommended."
"Excellent walking country, great pubs nearby. The cottage is beautifully presented, warm and practical. Great for families, couples or a group of friends. Will definitely be going back in the summer."
"Mel (owner) messaged us the night before saying that the cottage was empty so if we wanted we could arrive early. Cottage is of a high standard and is a pleasant 10 minute walk down to the harbour. Lovely pub near the house if you walk away from the harbour. The fuel for the fire burns down quickly but we had enough for a fire on each of the 3 nights. Nice bottle of Shiraz, coffee and biscuits left for us. All in all, nice place and well worth a visit. Parking for 1 car round the back but loads of parking on the estate across the road from the property. Netflix on the TV, we had a newborn with us so stayed in on the evenings with the fire on and watching films."
"Lovely stay at 15 Staithes Lane. The house was exquisite and done to a very high standard. All the amenities present and much more. Would happily stay there again."
