Sedbergh is set at the foot of the Howgill Fells, it's a town in northern Dentdale. Sedbergh is in the Yorkshire Dales National Park and is 12 miles from the Lake District National Park. The town has narrow streets, little shops, pubs, an ancient school and a 12th century church. Leading from Sedbergh is Dentdale, the jewel of the Dales with its hills and dry stone walls, stretching 14 miles from Whernside to the confluence of the Rivers Dee and Rawthey. At the centre of the dale is Dent, with its cobbled streets, it has existed since Norman times and nearby Dent railway station is on the renowned Settle-Carlisle railway line. There are three golf courses nearby, as well as tennis, riding, and fishing, and it's a paradise for walkers, ramblers, runners and cyclists. This, together with the tranquillity of the surrounding valleys, the two National Parks and it being England's book town, makes an ideal year-round holiday destination.
Reviews
"Spent Christmas in this comfortable cosy cottage. Great location near to the town (about 5 minute walk) and close to river and good walks. The cottage was very clean and well furnished with comfortable beds. Generally the kitchen was well equipped with plenty of cutlery, pans, crockery and glassware, however kitchen utensils were lacking and we had to buy a wooden spoon, potato peeler, egg cups and slice for frying pan. Cleaners only left one toilet roll which wasn't enough for the time we were there and again had to buy more. There was a coffee machine that took pods (yeuch!) and I personally prefer a cafetiere so glad I took one with me. Given the cost of the cottage I was disappointed there wasn't a 'starter pack' for the woodburner. We arrived late and just caught the wood suppliers before they closed for Christmas. Otherwise everything was good and we had a lovely stay. I would recommend."
