"My extended family and I stayed here for our annual walking holiday in the Lakes. The photographs on the web site don't do it justice and it has to be seen to be believed. The property is very luxurious and the kitchen is to die for and has everything that a family of eight could possibly want. All of the bedrooms and bathrooms were very high spec, as indeed was the entire property. The biggest Wow came from us all when we walked into the lounge and saw the stunning views of Skiddaw , Catbells and all the surrounding hills and fells. It was breath taking and to see all the lights of Keswick below us at night time was just magical. My 6 year old Granddaughter was in heaven.....in fact we all were . Over 30 odd years I have rented many properties for us all but this was the best of the best and I would not hesitate to recommend it. Booked it through Lakes Cottage holidays and the team there were also very informative and professional."
"This cottage was of the highest standard and most comfortable and very large. Well situated for travelling, walking and the Town Centre. The area was quite and the view from the veranda was breathtaking. The bedrooms were large and comfortable. Bathrooms a plenty and the Kitchen was extremely well stock with equipment and utensils. I can comfortable say we will stay again in this superb accommodation and most certainly recommend it to all."
"Our children planned this holiday for our ruby wedding anniversary as we all love the lakes. There were 2 children and 6 adults, the venue was fantastic, where everyone had their own area if they wanted to get away from each other! The house had everything we wanted and more. The views were fantastic and most of the walks we did were available from the house. The week we were there the weather was fantastic (which helped), in fact too hot on occasions! There is no umbrella on the terrace (which we found out from previous reviews) so took our own which was very helpful each night. Yes the walk up from Keswick was hard, but also a good work out!! You do get a free parking ticket for the car park, which helps. All in all a very good time was had by all."
"Booking was straight forward, friendly professional staff to hand to help and advise. Accomodation exceeded our expectaions on all fronts. Clean, spacoius, excellent views from the sun balcony. Private location but within walking distance of Keswick. Car parking was off road but I think you would struggle to with more than 2 reasonably sized cars. Slope down to garage is to avoided at all costs. Gardens were a delight. Tvs in Bedrooms would be welcomed. Would book again and recommend to friends."
"After staying at Cloud End in 2012 and enjoying the beautiful house, scenery and high standard of presentation, we had no qualms about returning again this year to enjoy another family holiday with our two elderly mothers. What a disappointment, we arrived at 3.05pm as our documentation stated we could gain access from 3pm onwards. The cleaner was still there but said she only had 10 minutes cleaning left to do. After she left we had a good look around and realised that the presentation of the property was not of the same standard as 2012. It was dirty, nowhere had been vacuumed - the living room carpet had remains of biscuits and crisps, after 30 minutes vacuuming with the inadequate small attachment on the Dyson (all that was available) my brother-in-law found the large head for the vacuum wedged under a wardrobe - no wonder it was dirty, There were dirty underpants and socks in bedroom drawers and a charger left from previous occupants. The toilets were dirty and on the kitchen floor there was a garlic clove and a month's worth of dust etc behind the door. All the furniture looked like it hadn't been dusted for weeks. Four of our party spent a total of 10 hours cleaning to bring this property up to an acceptable standard. Photos were taken, letters and documentation showing that arrival was from 3pm was sent to Lakes Cottage Holidays complaining. The final letter from Lakes Cottage Holidays basically called us liars, stating that we had arrived at 2.10pm (which was not true) and that our photos (which were all dated) were inconclusive. A shame that all their documentation didn't give the same access time to the property. BEWARE OF LAKES COTTAGE HOLIDAYS, who manage this property, the cleaning is obviously done on a budget, and their complaint procedure is appalling. It is such a beautiful house with stunning views just badly managed by Lakes Cottage Holidays. What a shame, while Lakes Cottage Holidays have anything to do with the property we won't be returning again."
"The cottage is in an excellent location on Chestnut Hill with spectacular views across to Skiddaw and Keswick from the balcony terrace or the enormous picture window in the lounge (it truly makes you go wow!!!) It takes about 20 - 30 mins to walk to/from Keswick centre. (a bit of a drag on the way back uphill). The cottage has been done up to a very high spec and has a feel of a boutique hotel. The bedrooms are spacious (2 being en-suite) and the open plan living room/kitchen is perfect for group meals/living. The attached garage is useful for storing bikes / walking gear and there is a useful utility room with washing machine. The cottage has pretty much everything you will ever need in it; fully kitted out kitchen with coffee machine (Braun, Tassimo), wine fridge, utensils etc. The lounge has a flat screen TV and DVD player (not that you'll want to watch TV with a view like you get here!!) The terrace has a charcoal BBQ and there are BBQ tools. The beds are comfortable with nice linen and towells are provided. The only negative is that the garden is a little bit on the small side, if that's important to you. However, you have the whole of the Lakes to play in, so not a massive issue. This is a fantastic cottage in a great location and i highly recommend it for a family or group of friends who want a luxurious place to stay. (We stayed with 6 adults and 3 children comfortably)."
"To find fault is difficult but the house is a good distance from any pubs or shops and has no wi fi or shaver points. Views from the lounge are stunning and the kitchen is excellent."
"Cloud End is the perfect house for a group of friends to enjoy a weeks holiday walking in the Lake District. The central location enabled us to walk CatBells, Scarfell Pike, and Walla Cragg. The scenary from the large window in the lounge is breathtaking, Cloud End is the best appointed house we have ever stayed in and it met the needs of all eight of us. Keswick is a pretty town with lots of shops suitable for walkers plus Booths the rather upmarket supermarket. The scenary in the Lakes is breathtaking especially when snow is on the fells and the sun is shining, the Derwent Water Ferry is ideally situated for either a trip around the water or to hop on and off in different locations following a walk, just check the timetable and hail the ferry. Parking in Keswick is expensive but a permit is available in the house. Grasmere and ambleside are also well worth visiting especially Sarah Nelsons Gingerbread in Grasmere. All in all a fantastic holiday and we will certainly be returning to the Lake District and using Lake Cottage Holidays again."
"Amazing home very high spec, everything been thought about. We had a fantastic family Xmas, facilities etc in the home were excellent cooked in everyday. A very classy home the owners have truly thought about people and their needs and have delivered to a very high standard. Will be booking again, i believe some friends have already done so. fantastic and thank you."
"Having stayed at many holiday homes across the UK we were blown away by the quality of Cloud End. Not only is it well laid out, it is also very well equipped. Its a little further out of Keswick town centre than we would normally stay but it is worth the extra walk. Can't wait to go back again"
"Great house with fantastic views. Well recommended,"
"Very clean, well maintained holiday house. Very spacious and great comunal areas. Lovely balcony with views over Keswick and surrounding area - lovely for sitting out - got the sun quite alot. Rooms decorated to a high standard with good amenities. Lovely bathroom and kitchen facilities. Only slight downside was location. It's not that close to the town centre as right on the edge of Keswick. The nearest pub/shop is a good 10-15 minutes downhill. I think it would be a bit longer than a 15 minute walk into town and then a steep climb back up. However, don't let that put you off if you are happy to walk or drive. There is plenty of car parking in Keswick and the house is ideally located for exploring the surrounding areas - Grasmere, Ambleside, Windermere etc."
"Taking the whole deal, it was ideal for the Convention in Skiddaw street & very adequate in every aspect. Located as it was with buses outside the road & not too far to walk into Keswick. getting back more of a challenge because of it's uphill location! The only thing which caused us a problem was the failure of one of the shower room fans & the lack of any action to repair in spite of repeated requests. We did have a very good week."
"Great views , good location and space. Stayed before and would stay again"
"Cloud End has everything you require, the owners had thought of everything to make our stay feel like home from home. The views from the lounge and the balcony are incredible and we were lucky to have a heat wave throughout our stay and we spent 12 hours a day on the balcony just admiring the views. The walk to the Town was very pleasant through lovely streets. The Town is lovely and the people extremely welcoming. I feel awful saying this but we could have done with a parasol on the balcony as it reached 35 degrees up there some days!!! Perfect holiday and we are going to book for next year."
"Everything worked the house accomodates 8 with ease and the furnishings and equipment were of high quality. Views from lounge are supurb. Only fault was statement that nearest pub is 400 yards away. It is in fact about 3/4 mile away and down a steep hill! The ads should be revised to explain this. We did not think it was viable to walk into the town either after a full day out on the fells."
"Cloud end is a bit like the Tardis - much bigger and better equipped than it looks from the outside. It's been recently renovated and a lot of thought has gone into making it feel cosy. The view is great and in the summer I'm sure the terrace would be lovely. Wifi would have been a plus."
