"The apartment has everything you need for a family holiday - lots of space, with TVs and Wifi in every room. The views from the rooms are a bonus - the front of the house looks across the valley over Derwent Water and the back looks up the hillside of Skiddaw. We twice woke up to see deer in the back garden. The kitchen is well equipped with enough room for a large family to sit down and eat. We loved our trips out and explored the area - Dodds Wood and Whinlatter are a must for 'something for everyone' days. The walk to Keswick is easily done although the road beyond the pub and leisure centre has no pavement which is unnerving with little ones. A great time was had by us all and I can't fault the apartment for providing the environment you want after a day in the woods!"

"My brother won this in a raffle, we were so excited, the pictures and reviews looked amazing. What a shame it was so short lived. The smell of damp as you entered the front door was so pungent, I needed to take my inhlaer. When we got to the first floor, at first glance it looked ok but the carpets were dusty and so were the floors, When we got in the kitchen, the cutlery and dishes were disgusting and there was cooked food stuck to them and the glasses were in the same state, the dishwasher was blocked and full of debris. None of the rooms had been dusted or vacumed, There was cobwebs, hair and blood on the windowsills, upon complaining we got a myriad of excuses and were not taken seriously. See pics for evidence"

"We stayed here as a family over October half term week. We arrived late on a Sunday afternoon to a freezing cold house, and discovered the boiler fault light was flashing. We managed to get it working, although it consistently kept cutting out. Unfortunately, despite an engineer coming out on the Tuesday, the problem wasn't resolved, so it is difficult to award this stay more than three stars, as coming back to a cold house every day after a long walk, did have a negative effect on our stay. The house itself was extremely well appointed at the foot of skiddaw, and with lovely views. The kitchen had every utensil you could wish for, and the house itself was well equipped. The shower was a little disappointing and the water was never that hot (probably due to the faulty boiler). Apart from the odd stain on the sofas, the house was spotlessly clean. There was some building work in a neighbouring flat, which caused a little noise, and it would have been nice to have been informed about this prior to our stay. I wouldn't let my comments put you off this property, but just ensure the boiler is fixed prior to your stay!"

"We stayed in Somervell in July, and had the advantage of some of the best weather that is possible in the Lakes. Our group consisted of me, my wife, my son and his wife, and their two children. The property was the perfect size for us all with 3 bedrooms (2 ensuite) and a further bathroom. The large living room and good-sized kitchen/diner meant that we had plenty of space. The property is well and comfortably equipped. and the parking and access are good, with wide staircases and open hallways typical of a Victorian Country House. One of the best things about the property were the wonderful views, however these were slightly spoiled by the scaffolding that was present during our stay."

"We have stayed here a few times and we never want more. The apartment is beautifully presented and the owners obviously care for it - all the utensils and equipment work! The views are breathtaking and the TVs in every room are a bonus when the children are tired. The sitting room is very cosy too! The grounds are extensive and the children love exploring them or playing bowles, miniature golf and badminton (the latter we bring ourselves)."

"We enjoyed all aspects of the accommodation apart from the fact that there was only one proper shower. The one shower was excellent, but the queue in the morning was disappointing,. The grounds were extensive and we enjoyed playing on the lawns. The abundance of TVs was a surprise. We didn't really enjoy the walk into Keswick but Skiddaw was much better."

"Our first stay here, weather was great apartment was very spacious and well equipped, but the showers in en-suite could be better and they need a screen or curtain. Nice gardens to wander around and a great location just far enough away from main road."

"The fact that we've been to Somervell 8 times says it all really! Our four children say this is their favourite holiday destination. Nice and relaxing...very peaceful...well equipped kitchen...fantastically large garden that the children love complete with mini golf...clean and spacious. Hopefully we'll be back next year for visit number 9."

"We have visited Somerville every year for the past 6 years and we have never been disappointed. The location is perfect for the young family with plenty of space for the children to run around. Close to all amenities but far enough away to feel as though you are in the depths of the Lake District. The accommodation is spacious and sleeps 6 comfortably and reasonably well furnished and equiped albeit the shower could do with being replaced."

"Somervell is a large appartment in the building. It's airy and solid and well appointed. I would certainly return. The only reason I give 4 stars and not 5 is that the picking up and returning the key arrangements are not good (a trip into nearby but busy Keswick - where there is nowhere easy and free to park is necessaary) Also, I think the agency should have ensured there was soap and perhaps shampoo in all the bathrooms, and washing up liquid and dishwasher tablets and detergent and washing up mops and brillo pads in the kitchen. We were warned towels were not provided - but I think they should be for the price."

"Clean and tidy, well laid out. Plenty of room and enough crockery etc to start a restaurant Comfortable beds, both doubles with excellent views and nice en suites. Ample parking. One mile walk to the nearest pub, but very pleasant if the weather obliges."

"The apartment is in a very nice location and is very elegant - the WiFi was a very useful addition. We had everything we needed for a lovely Christmas holiday with three children (from toddler to teenage)."
