In the heart of the village with two good pubs and farm shop, Townend Barn is a smashing retreat for couples to enjoy a Devon break. Devon, with its quiet country lanes, patchwork of lush green fields and sleepy villages is not to be missed. Stately home lovers will be spoiled and why not finish with a scrumptious Devonshire cream tea?

Nestling among mature woodland on the western slopes of Dartmoor, the historic village of Lydford is a jewel in this area of outstanding scenic beauty. To the north, just half a mile away, the high tors come right down to the village edge, while to the south the River Lyd winds its way through Lydford Forest on its tumbling course northwards.

"Me and my bf stayed here last year. It is easy to find and has private parking. The entrance is around the back so you have lots of privacy. It has its own secluded garden which we spent many hours reading in. The cottage was nice and warm and also had a log burner. The hosts were very nice and made us feel welcome. Close to lots of beautiful landmarks. We would definitely return."
