"Hirnant Cottage along with 5 other cottages is situated on a 220 acre working farm about 3 miles from Lake Bala. Set in the hills well off the main road, it is quiet and peaceful with outstanding views across the lake and valley to the mountains of Snowdonia. The cottage is well maintained with excellent facilities, clean and comfortable. It is a good base for visiting that part of north west Wales with excellent walking country close by. The village of Bala has a good range of shops and eateries. Some things to do: Drive toTanybwelch and take the Ffestiniog train from Tanybwelch. Alight at Boston Lodge (request stop), walk over the hill (about 30 minutes) to Portmerion but make sure it is going to be a dry day. Take pack lunch. Return from Minffordd Station but check on train times or you'll have to bus it back. Spend the day at Conwy and around. Good walking around Betws-Y-Coed if you are the outdoor energetic sort but worth a visit anyway. Drive to Trevor, 4 miles past LLangollen and take a trip on the canal across the aquaduct with Jones the Boat. Free parking and various eating places for lunch. Visit Glassbobbery a short drive on the A494 and a meal with a difference at Rhug Estate on the A5."

"very nice views , very quiet, bed very comfortable. we found the shower very poor, hard to set the temperature , eithr very hot or cool, towels were supplied but very small , we are use to bath sheets, these were ordinary bath towels. got wet very quick. no hair dryer supplied. the kitchen was good but very very basic, one small knife and one bread knife and 3 pairs of sissors , non stick fry pan with metal fish slice, small knife needed to be sharper, went out and bought a sharp one. the lounge was very poor, tv way to small and leather sofa and chair, neither were very comfortable , not even a rug to make it look homely for the relaxing evening after a full day out and about in the beautiful countryside. views from lounge were spectacular, just a shame it wasnt comfy."

"A lovely cottage with everything you might want. A good location for visiting Snowdonia and riding on the old steam railways. A warm welcome from the owners and helpful tips and advice. A great holiday retreat Only a small criticism. We thought the television could be a little larger.(we are old!)"
