Reviews
"The lodge is sited on a very large plot of land, with horses and sheep as your only neighbours. It is very well laid out with plenty of room for 7 adults and 2 dogs and was extremely clean. We received a lovely welcome of delicious home made cakes and a bottle of wine. There is a very good pub to eat in, The Anchor, about 5 minutes drive away and some lovely days out at Exmoor Zoo, Qunice Honey Farm, Tarr Steps and Tiverton, all within a 30 -40 minute drive. I would recommend Bickley Mill Near Tiverton for a bite to eat and some lovely crafts and The Park Hotel in Barnstable for a Sunday Carvery. I would definatly stay at the lodge again, if you looking for peace and Quiet, lovely walks and plenty to do if you fancy a day out, Valley Lodge is perfect."
"Well equipped and comfortable property situated on a plot sandwiched between the A396 and the River Exe. Access is along a gravel drive, be aware that you need to open a heavy metal gate at the road end, and a wooden farm type gate at the property end. Your only neighbours are the stable block and paddocks with maybe a dozen horses and some sheep. The road does however run immediately behind the property and at roof level so you are aware of the traffic, especially in the single bedroom. The garden area is all grass and was sadly waterlogged when we visited after much heavy rain. Similarly the river was very high and fast flowing - be aware that there is no fence along the river boundary so any children will need to be closely supervised. As you might expect from a wooden lodge, the floor in the hallway creaks a lot, so night time trips to the loo / early risers will have their work cut out not to disturb others. Open plan living/dining/kitchen area is spacious and comfortable. Extending table and plenty of crockery to cope with 7 guests if necessary. Would have been good to have a door between here and the hallway though. Well stocked book case with an eclectic mix of titles, similarly a collection of dvds, and several board games (and some outdoor games). One separate toilet, one bathroom with loo (almost ensuite to the main bedroom) and another with bath, shower & loo. The double bedroom with the veranda is definitely the one to fight over - much more spacious than the other rooms. Lots of useful "stuff" that you wouldn't normally find in a holiday let, and some lovely welcome gifts left by the owner which were much appreciated."
"Great location Very comfortable accommodation Well equipped and spacious Extremely clean The owners had gone the extra mile to make it welcoming by tastefully decorating it for Christmas. Would highly recommend"
"Excellent location and very peaceful, Very attentative owners. Very clean and with comfy beds. WiFi much to the relief of our 13 year old. Spacious property with two bathrooms and separate toilet, all on one level, once inside. Only downside is the three steps to get into the property, otherwise would be excellent for disabled use too. Set in woodland with a beautiful stream flowing at the bottom of the garden and only sheep and horses for neighbours. Great little villages around and close to main roads to get to other places. This is the second time we have used this company Helpful Holidays and would highly recommend them. The owners they have on their books are genuine honest people with extremely well equipped beautiful properties."
"What a beautiful lodge! All the rooms were spotless and the welcome flowers, card and cake were lovely! Definitely worth a visit in the summer!"
