Reviews
"We booked Hiscox Cottages with my 94 year old disabled father in mind. The cottage was perfect for both his needs and ours. The downstairs bedroom with ensuite shower room where both generous in size with the added benefit of being able to gain access to the shower room from both the lounge and his bedroom which meant he didn't have to walk too far. The owners were very helpful in providing level floor access to the property by allowing us to park outside the front door and with having a mobility scooter delivered to the property before we arrived. We loved the views from the conservatory and spent many a happy hour watching the alpacas, peacocks, pigmy goats, and the ostrich. The property is on a working farm and we were able to walk anywhere we wanted on the property. It is set in the countryside but the small town of Colyton is only 5/10 mins drive away for food and drink supplies. The cottage is very well furnished and comfortable - we had everything we needed and it was lovely to just sit and chill out. The seaside isn't very far away so trips to Sidmouth, Lyme Regis etc don't take long. I'd definitely stay here again, we loved it."
"The cottage is exactly as you see it on the website. It is very well equipped, very clean and comfortable throughout. A nice big enclosed garden which was ideal for our two Jack Russells. The drive to the cottage is up very narrow winding roads but well worth the drive as the views are spectacular and it is so peaceful and relaxing. It definitely has the chill factor. Mark and Jo are the perfect hosts - not intrusive but very welcoming and willing to do anything to help."
"We only stayed for the weekend, but the cottage was clean, cosy and very well equipped. We arrived in the dark, and in the morning, we were amazed at the breath taking views, even the teenagers were impressed. For those of you attached to your mobiles, you may find little or no signal, but there was a data dongle and laptop for 10 hours internet. Living area with kitchen is compact, but the conservatory and bedrooms are fine. We had a great meal at The Wheelwright too. Would go again."
"We recently stayed at this property, it was dirty, the furniture is "grubby" the bed linen had mould on the sheets the duvets were badly stained as were the pillows There was mould in the shower the cooker was unsafe, the trip switch didnt work and there is a safety issue with the steps from the garden to the car park. We complained and had a partial refund from the owner. This is an expensive property to rent, it does not live up to the web site description and certainly not the photographs, the property is much smaller than anticipated, Definitely would not recommend."
