The tiny, pretty village of Noss Mayo is hidden away on the southern bank of the Yealm Estuary and is home to two good pubs. Across the water is the larger village of Newton Ferrers, and you can get between the two villages by a causeway at low tide and a seasonal ferry that operates a triangular route and calls in at the SW Coastal Path, Noss Mayo and Newton Ferrers. Newton Ferrers has a local butcher, chemist and Post Office. The village pub has fantastic views across the water towards Noss Mayo and the creek. The area is blessed with many walks that meander along the waterside and across the fields, while to the north Dartmoor's high tors and open spaces beckon those who love wild country. The city of Plymouth with its shops, Marine Aquarium and Barbican quayside area is just 10 miles away.
Reviews
"Molly's cottage is lovely. It's well appointed, clean and warm. The location is great for walks and pubs, the nearest shop is about a mile away. The directions we were given were good although I wouldn't like to try to find it in the dark."
"Beautiful cottage in the lovely harbour of Noss Mayo. Lovely cottage well equipped, well equipped kitchen with very homely living room. Comfy beds with beautiful linen & nice quilts. No parking outside but free car park within 5 mins walk. Lovely views from the house, good pubs close by selling real pub grub."
"It's a lovely cottage in a great spot near the estuary , kid park and pub. The cottage is well equipped , nicely decorated and cosy furnishings. Everything you need for a week away. The twin room was gorgeous and my two grandchildren were very at home . The Back garden is very steep and muddy steps outside if it rains , only negative. Steep steps inside and out. Very lovely area , Stoke beach was ideal for blustery rock pool days and exploring. Very steep narrow roads so be aware. Parking was a pain , especially with 2 infants aboard. Local neighbours & community were very helpful letting us load up unloadcand park on their driveways.. The ship inn and the Swan very nice pubs. Had some great beach days with the dog , plenty of dog beaches within an hour drive. We loved it."
