Reviews
"Excellent in every way! John the host, what a gentleman and Rondi his wife a true lady of the modern day."
"This great house hosted a fantastic week for our family and friends. The Georgian front has a grandeur which emanates from every brick and stone. The dining room easily sat our party of twelve as we dined in style watched over by family portraits and other objets d'arts. Plenty of room in the drawing room for cocktails beforehand. This grandeur is ideally complemented by the more 'homely' feel of the rooms behind; a well equipped kitchen and breakfast area, comfortable sitting area with wood burning stove, entertainment room with pool table and games consoles. Bedrooms are large, comfortable and stylishly furnished. Outside a huge private lawn with sweeping drive enabled us to leave the croquet set up all week. In the barn was table tennis and other outdoor games. There is lots of outside seating, from large tables and enough chairs to accommodate everyone to small, hidden away spaces with one or two seats. There is plenty of parking. We had four cars with us and there was room for more. The owners, who live close by, were friendly and helpful. They were available for the odd question or two we had but remained unobtrusive throughout our stay. We really felt the place was 'ours' for the week we stayed. For added luxury we booked 'Sargie' to cater for us one evening. He served a superb meal, including laying the table and doing all the washing up"
"This is the 3rd time we have stayed at Parnacott House. The house is full of charm and splendour, the gardens/grounds are beautiful and very well looked after. The owners are also very close by and extremely obliging. It is very peaceful and wildlife abounds: hare and deer in particular visit the grounds daily. For a large party of people (sleeps up to 14), it is particularly ideal. The house is large enough that you do not feel you are living on top of each other. If you feel like escaping for a quiet read, that is easy to do."
"Just returned home after a long week-end in this stunning property with a group of friends. It is the perfect luxurious, but homely and comfortable getaway. Beautiful setting with wild Hares frolicking on the lawn. The house has everything you could possibly want including warm and welcoming hosts who will do everything to make your stay comfortable."
"Spent a fantastic few days at this beautiful house. Just like a place straight out of the pages of a Jane Austin novel, from the moment you pass through the gates and travel along the sweeping gravel driveway and first catch sight of it's imposing facade, you feel transported back to a gentler time. Although it does have all the mod con's we have come to expect. It is comfortable, very well equipped and extremely welcoming. The owners are very friendly and always on hand if you need them, but never intrusive. There was chocolates, cake, wine and beautiful fresh flower arrangements waiting for us on arrival, and the owners take you on a little tour of the house and regale you with the fascinating history of the house and the family. A truly magical holiday."
"12 Of my family stayed 13-20 May and had a fantastic chilled holiday. This is the third year in a row that we have booked and we are all ready planning the return in 2017. John and Rondi could not have been more helpful and they take great pride in their beautiful home. There is plenty of room to spread out, the bedrooms are excellent and the grounds are stunning. Ideally situated to explore Devon and Cornwall and all they have to offer."
"29 years of re-uniting for an annual holiday, Parnacott is easily in our top 5 list. We arrived along a driveway which sweeps round to the front of the house, there's a wow moment as we got our first view of the Georgian frontage appearing across the far side of the lawn. Lots of room for everyone, three sitting areas with the type of comfortable grand country house furnishings and all the ornate decorations that go with a period house, paintings of some of the previous historic owners, and many fresh flower arrangements in the rooms giving that touch of grand living. All the kitchen and dining equipment in plentiful supply, and made very clear to ask for anything that hadn't already been thought of. We made good use of the small billiard table in one of the sitting areas, weather was a bit damp to try croquet on the front lawn, but there's lots of books, jigsaws, toys etc. for all ages including our , err...."young at heart? " group... Wish we'd brought our children when they were younger as they'd have loved the dressing up clothes. Would love to know more about the history of the house and it's family, the owners are fantastic people we really enjoyed chatting to them. A good choice for our holiday... we intend to come back sometime, which is very unusual as we normally prefer variety."
"Just back from a long weekend at Parnacott House with family ranging from 3 years to 80 years old. Beautiful property which felt warm and welcoming, like a home, but which was also very special. Old family portraits, a grand staircase and sweeping driveway made us feel like we were in a costume drama. Both young and old found it enchanting."
"We have just returned from a brilliant week at Parnacott. We are a number of families who come together every year for February half term. Parnacott is a fantastic house. It is beautiful outside and in. Take a look at the photos on their website and will see exactly what you are getting. It is so spacious but still cosy and wonderfully warm in a cold February week. There is a wood burner and a very cosy fire in the sitting room. The dining room is impressive and we dined each night be candlelight after pre-dinner drinks in the sitting room. Some of the rooms have ensuite; our's didn't but the two additional bathrooms are great and the showers although not state of the art are extremely good. There is loads to see and do in the area; we walked most days but there are some really good attractions to go to including the local swimming pool in Bude which is a wave pool. We will be going back. This place is a real find and would suit a group of friends and kids and dogs like us or a family gathering. And if you foreign friends they would just love it. Parnacott really feels like 'Just to the Manor Born' or a small 'Downton' and it is very special."
