Dating from the end of the eighteenth century, the fishing village of Port William sits on the east side of Luce Bay on the Machars peninsula in the Dumfries and Galloway region of Scotland. There is much history in the area from early Christian sites through to more recent smuggling activities. The picturesque harbour that dates from the 18th century offers sea angling and is ideal for sailors too.
Reviews
"I have stayed in Drumfad Cottage previously and on this visit I stayed in Drumfad barn, so this review is equally relevant to both properties. The properties have changes hands about 12 months ago, however the new owners are fantastic, they are very welcoming and not at all intrusive. The properties can only fairly be described as immaculate, they are very clean and well equipped, with modern appliances and comfortable furnishings. it is a very peaceful location with lots of attractions, historic sites and towns nearby - Galloway house gardens and shore are well worth a visit. The property is (well controlled) dog friendly, and has an enclosed garden and gates so that children can play safely. Both properties but especially the barn are VERY spacious. The price I paid for our stay in November 2018 for seven nights was very reasonable and to be honest it was less than I expected to have to pay. We had a seven night stay could not find any faults whatsoever we will defiantly return to the barn or cottage and would have no reservations about recommending them to our friends"
