Tintagel is dominated by the magnificent ruins of King Arthur's Castle which lie on the cliffside outside the town. The sea, secluded coves and spectacular scenery dominate the area, and a number of superb beaches, including Trebarwith Strand, are easily reached for surfing, swimming and sunbathing. The town offers pubs and restaurants and the National Trust owned Old Post Office. Walkers will love the SW coast path which goes right through Tintagel then winds its way in both directions along the cliff tops through stunning countryside, before meandering down to the water's edge. The pretty village of Boscastle with its charming quay and village pubs is 2.5 miles north, and if you venture further afield you will find the surfing resort of Bude; the wild open spaces of Bodmin Moor; the incredible biospheres of the Eden Project; Padstow and its famous restaurants, and much more.
Reviews
"Wow... an amazing place to stay in a beautiful location. Stayed for a week and enjoyed every second. The cottage is very quaint and well equipped. Our dog also stayed and loved the local walks. Walking into tintagel took around 20 minutes. The owner, Mr Evans was extremely helpful and available for any help or advice needed. He even delivered some freshly cut flowers to us! The beds in the cottage were so comfortable that we didn't want to leave! Tintagel is a beautiful part of the country and staying in this cottage made the experience just wonderful. There is also a private walkway along the stream which is amazing. So many thoughtful touches such as providing an iron, games and even shopping bags!!!! So many thanks to Mr Evans for making our stay so enjoyable... we only wish we could stay forever. Thank you!!!!"
"Met by the owner and soon made ourselves comfortable. Our dog was also welcome. Very quietly situated just outside Tintagel. No mobile phone reception in the valley though. Cottage would have been better if both rooms were en-suite (e.g. door knocked through from bedroom into bathroom rather than having to come out onto landing), also a bit inconvenient at times to have the wardrobe and drawers on the landing. Other than that a fantastic holiday and really not long enough. Loved visiting all the King arthur connected places. Ideal for visiting both north and south coasts of Cornwall. Would definately stay again. Grounds to cottage were superb and peaceful."
"This is a comfortable and cosy house although the fittings are a little dated. However, if you are looking for a peaceful location with easy access to the superb coastal walks and scenery then this is an excellent choice."
"Millers cottage was set well off the road in beautiful grounds which were well maintained and quiet. The property was also well maintained, clean and comfortable Dog walking was a pleasure through the woods after leaving the private gardens of Millers cottage.Easy access to the local towns and coast. All in all, a lovely place to stay for a relaxing holiday."
"The cottage location is in a beautiful valley and as sheltered as possible from the prevailing weather conditions. It has access to a wonderful garden complete with fast flowing stream and the shrubs and flowers complement the natural surroundings. The cottage itself is very pleasant to stay in - but do be prepared to use the splendid wood burning stove in winter. This is great fun and the owners provided the fuel from the trees in the garden and we didn't have to cut the logs up ourselves! The dog particularly enjoyed himself with the surrounding walks and learnt how to go up and down the cliff paths and only fell in the stream once. Stout footwear is sensible as the going can be rough on some of the cliff paths. For those with mobility difficulties the National Trust have provided a level path on the cliff top to the south west of Tintagel castle which can be accessed via the road to the church. The views are wonderful here. Tintagel and Boscastle are the nearest locations and are more than adequate for shopping and meals but do remember that Cornwall is very seasonal so a lot of surrounding attractions are only open from Easter to October."
