Crantock is a small Cornish village, set back from the coast, close to the popular resort of Newquay. If you want to escape the crowds, yet still be close to the action, this is the place to be. There's stunning countryside all around and lots of pretty villages to explore; however, it is the coast that dominates. Enjoy superb walks along the coastal path over dramatic cliff-tops, or magnificent surfing on beaches stretching from Watergate Bay in the North to Fistral beach in the centre of Newquay and on down the coast. There are a number of golf courses in the area, as well as National Trust properties, traditional pubs and outstanding restaurants. Newquay itself is a visitor's paradise with a wide variety of shops, pubs and restaurants, plus attractions such as the Sea Life Centre, Newquay Zoo and nearby Dairyland and Eden Project.
Reviews
"Fabulous comfy house in the heart of Crantock, everything you need for a fantastic holiday ,wonderfully furnished and really warm, easy access to walk to several pubs, village shop and of course the beautiful beach at Crantock. Will book again for next year!"
"Looks like we followed the last people who reviewed on TripAdvisor at this property. I feel I must point out that the pans were not replaced after they left. We had no problems with parking space being blocked, however we not informed that it was at the rear of the property or that the key box was there. We could not contact the property manager due to poor signal so took some time to locate both, which is through a housing estate. The property manager Tracey arrived as we were unpacking she explained the oil leak had been repaired but the fumes from this were still apparent as clearly this wouldn't disappear immediately. She said she was replacing the frying pan and would come back with it, we never saw Tracey or the frying pan again. The pan situation is appalling one saucepan and a big stock pot if we had the full occupancy of 6 we would have been unable to cook. She even said she would contact us regarding an electrician coming out to mend the upstairs extractor fan which had been reported by the previous occupants again no one turned up. Cleaning was not as expected dog hairs on carpet, sofas not pulled out as could be seen as there was a bottle top underneath one. Thoroughly enjoyed the stay it is a lovely house just the points above need rectifying more care and attention. We have stayed in various Cottages in Crantock over the last few years, we would recommend this property if things were rectified."
"So the positive points about the house are it is clean, beds comfortable, great location. The negatives; Approach at the rear is extremely untidy. Your one parking space was often blocked by random vehicles. The smell of fuel/oil from tank on the patio area is very strong, not nice to sit out and eat there. Fuel/oil smell and fumes quickly build up in the lower back bedroom when the window is open. The boiler is directly outside the bedroom window. At times it smelt like a working garage in there. The only option was to keep the windows closed at all times. Stuffy and uncomfortable. Living area is extremely stuffy. If patio doors are open fuel/oil/fumes smells. Pans totally inadequate, frying pan burnt and scratched, one huge stock pot and one more saucepan. Provided with 2 blue bin liners for waste. This includes all recycling except for glass. The two blue bags when filled wouldn't fit in the dustbin provided? Literature stated any rubbish not put in the blue bags provided would not be collected. We could request more bags but there would be an extra charge. But who knows where we would have put them as the bin is too small and leaving them out isn't an option due to seagulls. Not a great waste service. We had to take rubbish away with us and find bins! Not really a holiday activity I have ever had to undertake before."
"Really nice cottage, clean enough, bedding very clean. Really nice location not far from Newquay. Poor seating in garden and decking area very difficult to relax on an old wooden picnic bench. Needed a patio table and chairs with a parasol. Some one toilet seats were loose. Need to pay a little more attention to detail. This would of made the beach hut excellent. Caz"
"An impressive holiday home. We loved the open plan, light and airy kitchen, dining area and lounge. The kitchen has everything you need. We found everything very comfortable and relaxing on this holiday. The original artwork on the walls added a lovely Cornish feel to the place too. The amenities/location of The Beach Hut is incredible too. There is an amazing beach just a few minutes walk away, a shop that stocks everything you need just a minute's walk across the road, several walking distance eateries and we found the locals were sooo friendly, even though we were complete strangers. All in all, a really great holiday! Looking forward to returning next year!"
"Beautiful house. Very clean and wonderfully warm for February. A lot of care and attention given by the owners with their clients in mind. Wonderful location in a perfect little Cornish village very near the beach. I live abroad and travel frequently to the Far East. I miss this perfect village "refuge" of peace and quiet and I would not stay anywhere else when in the UK given the choice. The owners could not do enough to make ones stay a happy one. Lovely home lovely place."
"This is a comfortable house to stay in. Two bathrooms and comfortable sofa and beds. Its let down by a lack of attention to detail. Both the fridge and freezer had not been defrosted since Adam was a lad. The owner asked if we wanted it defrosted but we didn't fancy a kitchen full of water so declined. The things you expect to find in holiday lets these days were missing - washing up liquid and the like, though to be fair there were 3 dishwasher tabs, no condiments etc. Considering the house is for 6 people cooking pots and pans were inadequate. Hooks required on all bedroom and bathroom doors. Outside, there is a picnic type table and benches but no parasol and no evening sun. The approach at the back could also do with a tidy up. All that said, we were comfortable, the wi-fi worked well and it was well situated in the village, but we all agreed we wouldn't go back again. Maybe we're just fussy. I've click 'yes' for recommendation but would add the provisos above."
