Oddington, Gloucestershire is a short drive away from Stow-on-the-Wold, the highest town in the Cotswolds and originally an Iron Age Fort. This ancient market town has played host to many fairs since the 12th century and today holds a biannual Gypsy Horse Fair, craft fairs and monthly Farmers' market. The vast market square boasts an ancient cross at one end and the village stocks at the other, surrounded by an elegant array of Cotswold stone townhouses, antique shops, tea rooms, traditional pubs, award-winning restaurants and its very own cricket museum. Reviews
"My husband and I stayed here for a weekend with friends. The cottage is beautifully furnished, the rooms are spacious and the beds are very comfortable. We enjoyed a relaxed evening in the stunning kitchen/dining room, and spent many peaceful hours reading in the cosy living room. The location is great, with access to walking routes and near to a number of excellent pubs. We look forward to our next stay."
"What a fabulous home, well furnished and stocked, beautiful garden with shallow stream at the end. Comfy beds, powerful showers and very warm. Lovely wood burner with a huge basket of logs. Lovely welcome tray of biscuits, drink, tea etc. Beautiful village, spotless with very friendly neighbours. A great place to stay for a family of 6..... Plenty of room to do your own thing. Lovely kitchen space, great to cook in...will definitely be returning."
"My Partner and I have actually stayed here on two occasions, having enjoyed our first visit so much it seemed impossible not to return! The location is fantastic, with picturesque running/walking routes and numerous pubs, gastropubs and restaurants all within a short distance. Whilst the time we visited with a car felt more convenient, we were equally able to enjoy the weekend when we relied upon the train from London and local taxis. The first time we visited was at the beginning of December, and the plethora of independent shops in Broadway (a nearby village) coupled with Daylesford, made for the perfect Christmas shopping offering. The cosiness of the living room with the large sofas and wood burning stove meant the evenings were spent out of the cold, playing board games with a glass of wine in front of the fire. The second time was in the Spring and we enjoyed the long walks, beautiful surroundings and drinks on the patio. Within the property itself, you can tell every detail has been thought of and designed specifically to create the perfect holiday home, from the expansive, open plan kitchen with the large farmhouse kitchen all the way down to the little details of high quality linens and toiletries. It is my favourite holiday home in the UK and one we would certainly love to return to."
"We have stayed twice at Orchard House, we love it and are keen to continue returning. For us it's been a slice of peacefulness away from London life. It combines home comforts, the charm and cosiness of a Cotswold village with plenty of options for country pursuits. The house is wonderful - done up to a very high standard with a cosy living room, very comfortable bedrooms and a spacious and really well designed kitchen/ dinning area. Lots of lovely little touches - White Company soaps, lovely linen and a fab coffee machine. Great pubs within walking distance inc fantastic gastropub (the Fox). Plenty of walks and beautiful villages all very close and loads more options within a short drive. Perfect for a quiet relaxing weekend or an active outdoors week."
"My wife and I spent a weekend here with friends and enjoyed every moment. The house itself is spacious, comfortable, and extremely well outfitted. The village has such tranquil walks and a great selection of high-end gastropubs and restaurants (the Kingham Plough is exceptional!) that you're spoilt for things to do. Can't recommend it enough."
