West Auckland is a small town in county Durham, situated 9 miles north of Barnard Castle and 15 miles from Durham. Within the village green you will find examples of period architecture and the 15th-century Manor House, used by Henry VIII, adds character to the town. Hamsterley Forest is close by and offers a magnitude of walks and cycling trails.

"Me my husband and daughter have just got back from a 4 night stay at chimney view. I was such a beautiful and clean cottage I can't fault anything. The owners katrina and Alan were lovely and so welcoming the welcome pack was such a lovely added touch also. We went to some lovely places one was hamsterly forest which our daughter loved as did we. Also a 10min walk from the cottage is a lovely little cafe and shop called cheesedale cafe anyone that loves cheese I would say definitely worth a visit. Again the owbers there were very friendly. We will definitely be booking to go again next year as we loved it much."
