Bream is a village in Gloucestershire, England, situated in the Forest of Dean. The village dates back to the Iron Age, when iron ore was being mined in the area. Offering a range of local pubs, restaurants and convenience stores. Positioned between the towns of Lydney and Coleford, the village is set on high grounds. Boasting a wonderful historic 16th century church, which was later reconstructed in the early 19th century.
Reviews
"We are a family of four (husband, wife, son of 12 and daughter of 10). The four of us had never spent a Christmas away before, but fancied a nice relaxing break over the festive period and having searched Sykes website for some time, we decided on booking Twixt Cottage. We can't fault it in any way. When we arrived we found that the cottage had some Christmas decorations put up, which was really appreciated. There was a plentiful supply of logs, kindling and some coal for the log burner which in turn heated the radiators throughout the cottage. The bedrooms are quite large for a 2 bedroom cottage, the living room was perfectly sized, and the large dining room was a very nice space to eat in. The kitchen is well equipped, and the bathroom has a good shower and plenty of space. We have a Ford Focus estate and had plenty of room on the drive for us to park. The village is lovely. Everytime we went out for a walk we were met with "Good evening" or "merry Christmas", with the locals stopping to chat with us. The local butchers sells some fantastic sausages, and the Spar is as you'd expect. I visited the hairdressers on Christmas eve morning and managed to get a walk in appointment, and again the staff were very friendly and knowledgeable of the local area. We also used the village pub most evenings during our stay. The pub is of a good size, the bar maid is friendly, there is a good variety of drinks, a dart board, juke box and fruit machine - there is no pool table and it does not do food. The locals were, again, friendly and happy to chat. The cottage is a great location to use as a base for walks. Within a 15 minute drive were Symonds Yat rock, and Speech House. So, if you are looking for a good sized cottage to use as a base for walks, in a proper old village, then I really recommend Twixt Cottage."
