Lily's Cottage is a delightful base to choose for your next retreat to the North Pennines. "We have just had a lovely, 'blow away the January blues' weekend in this lovely recently refurbished cottage in Weardale. The owners greeted us on arrival and made sure we had everything we needed, gave us some useful tips on where to explore with out dog and make the most of our stay. We very much enjoyed the bottle of wine, thank you! There is off-road parking and also a lovely little back yard and storage for bikes. This turns out to be a fantastic area for cycling so we intend to come back with our bikes next time! This is such a perfect location to explore County Durham for walking and as it turns out cycling. Weardale is stunning, even in January! We also visited Durham itself, which is an amazing city. There are some lovely local pubs with good wholesome pub grub and an open fire, perfect after a good days walking. We ate in the the Golden Lion on the Saturday night which was perfect. All in all a great stay in a lovely cottage perfectly located for walking and cycling. Most importantly of all, it is pet friendly!"
